I am trying to be religious, I am new to Christianity. I was just reading a study that the amygdala in the brain actually is built to accept religion. The say that this has been developed by generations of following faith. The human brain has developed a way to explain the "unexplained", some people use religion to explain it. The point is that being religious is not a bad thing, and no one should be judged for thier preferences. Whether they believe in a God or not does not make anyone in need of a psychotherapist.

there is nothing wrong with Ritual it helps people through the stages of life when it is a healthy religion not a killer one.
The reality of your question is that you are what you pay attention too. Why are you so angry. What happened in your childhood to make you so angry at religion. Who have you not talked too to deal with your resentments. They are obvious. If you did not have these demons you would not be spending the little time you have on this earth.( Because you are not going anywhere) On this topic talking to people you dont agree with. Trying to change people try Not being angry over what other people do or don't believe. YOU sound like the GOD of the old testament. Angry and judgmental. Are you angry because your NOT God?
The point is Let it Go its a waste of what little time you have.
Try some meditation and some loving kindness walk in other peoples shoes and have compasion you will live longer and have time doing positive things. that dont POOP on what other people care about.

If you ask someone a question, and you hear them reply...see a shrink, because you are hearing voices. If you see a person nearby, see a shrink because you are hallucinating. There's no one there. It's all in your mind. If you want to talk to someone, there are dead people around you. Don't live in the present so now that any real person can say is false. That's my point of view. I need sleep. Or more coffee. Or both. Religion is fine. You're welcome!

Well that's one way to spark a discussion. After reading the Q&As, I'd like to make a point:
This is what happens when one person thinks one thing and another person thinks another. Both sides completely convinced that they are correct.
When you think about which side of the argument you come down on, simply consider for one moment whether you might be wrong?
If you think there is no possibility of you being wrong - you are probably wrong. Completely wrong, as well as being arrogant.

To answer your question, no, I am a passionate Atheist. I use the term passionate atheist to make it clear that I am not just some lapsed christian who is too lazy or immoral to go to church, which is what a lot of Xtians think when you say atheist.
I agree, with Richard Dawkins, that it is time to get angry with religion, but I have to say I don't think that tactically, questions like this help - they allow theists to feel under attack and assume the martyr ground! Best to trawl answers and find those posts made by theists proclaiming their faith in the thin disguise of a question, then; carpe jugulam! But that's just my opinion. I admire your stance and wish you well. Keep fighting the good fight!

Well, you know, opinions are like a**holes; everybody's got one, and you are certainly entitled to yours. However, be aware that you are in the minority. The latest poll as reported in Time Magazine THIS WEEK reports that fully 91% of Americans believe in God. 91%. That puts folks like you in a very small minority.
Theoretically we live in a free country where, again, theoretically, the majority rules. How come you, as an atheist, have the right to reject the existence of God out of hand, but I as a Christian must be subjected to the loss of my religious freedoms in the work place, in the shopping mall, in the elevator, in the halls of justice? Why is it that atheists are so gung ho about their right NOT to practice religion but not so gung ho as to allow those of us who wish to practice to do so - a right that is still afforded to us 91% under the Constitution of these United States?
BTW, the greatest historian on the planet, Flavius Josephus, says point blank that Jesus existed, did many wonderful, miraculous works, and was crucified by the Romans. This even is also recorded by Pliney the Elder, Pliney the Younger, Ptolemy, and many other historians of the day. There isn't a historian on this planet who argues anything Josephus -- he, himself a Roman soldier -- says. So what's not to believe?

Here this blunt truth and sharp rebuke:
2 Peter 3:1-7 (Young's Literal Translation)
1This, now, beloved, a second letter to you I write, in both which I stir up your pure mind in reminding [you],
2to be mindful of the sayings said before by the holy prophets, and of the command of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour,
3this first knowing, that there shall come in the latter end of the days scoffers, according to their own desires going on,
4and saying, `Where is the promise of his presence? for since the fathers did fall asleep, all things so remain from the beginning of the creation;'
5for this is unobserved by them willingly, that the heavens were of old, and the earth out of water and through water standing together by the word of God,
6through which the then world, by water having been deluged, was destroyed;
7and the present heavens and the earth, by the same word are treasured, for fire being kept to a day of judgment and destruction of the impious men.
Jude 1:17-19 (Young's Literal Translation)
17and ye, beloved, remember ye the sayings spoken before by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ:
18that they said to you, that in the last time there shall be scoffers, after their own desires of impieties going on,
19these are those setting themselves apart, natural men, the Spirit not having.
You are going to be one of the fallowers of the Anti-Christ if you don't skip over your corrupt opinions.

I follow buddhist principles, you may call me religious, but I feel very liberated, and I dont feel obliged to do anything, but in my heart I know I do no harm to anyone knowingly and I do not ever believe anything just because it was preached by a religious leader. I question them and will accept what i can accept. I enjoy this way of living. We all need some sort of guidance in our lives at some stage. We have different names for those guiding forces. I call mine buddhism.

Your vocabulary, word use, and spelling really indicate that your opinion is one that others should value. Do you know how to use the Check Spelling blot above the entry box?
Have you considered that maybe you're wrong? If you are, then what? Pure statistics dictate that it is best to believe in God and his plan of salvation. Do I need to explain how if one is a Christian, then 75% of the available choice combinations work out to your benefit? Are you willing to take a 25% chance that you are right and God is wrong?
