My father was a vietnam veteran. We never really discussed the time he served. He passed away in 1998 and I only have one picture of him in Vietnam and its a snapshop. I have his discharge paper so I know exactly where he was. I just want to see if anyone else has pictures of him

Sorry to hear of your dad. Try to get the names and addresses of the US Vietnam Vets associations....they should put you in touch with the group your dad belonged to...perhaps....do a google search of your dad's name, and search google for Vietnam photos....look in the image area.....good luck kid!

You know those bracelets they pass out in OCS school? The ones with a Vietnam vets name and date of service? I got one of those. His name was Capt. Asher. I decided to do research on him. I started with the pentagon. It was from there that I was able to contact his relatives and former platoon leader that trained him.

I don't see why you couldn't do the same. If you get a hold of his commander (if he is alive) he may be able to direct to you to his friends and soldiers at arms. They probably have photos.

It takes time and persistence but I am sure you can do it.

Good Luck and Take Care

P.S. I always feel that when I mention Asher's name, I should tell you what a brave man he was. He was long range recon and died being shot while loading one of his men on a medivac.

My dad did two tours at Vietnam, he was part of the Navy Crew and was a cook on one of the ships for awhile, my sister has his discharge papers. What was your dad? Where was he located. Email me and I can try to help you.

if there are any memorials in your state (or the state he enlisted in) with commeorative books, buy one. in south dakota we had a vietnam war memorial dedication a couple weeks ago. the state had registrations sent out to all vietnam era vets and compiled into a book with stories and pictures. as well as outside the uso tents they had "Find a buddy" set up. i would give that a try. or try going to a local vets organization (dav, vfw, leigon....) and find out if they have any tips, who knows you might find one of his old buddies! good luck!

Maybe this might help?
