Iam training to be a life coach and finding it a bit hard,
is anyone else in the same situation?

I have been a Coach for three years now. It IS hard at the beginning because so many of the concepts are very esoteric and hard to really explain without example. The more you practice, the better you'll get. Find some people who you can work with for free, be upfront and honest about your experience level, and start practicing. Take any opportunity you have to work with a mentor coach because seeing others in action will also help you hone your skills. Check out the coachville website too - they many, many critiqued sessions available online that you can listen to and start to get the hang of things. Good luck!

Currently I work for a liscened clinical social worker who is also a certified life coach. Since she finished her certification, she has been trying to move the focus of her private practice from therapy to life coaching, but it has been very tough. Life coaches and what they do are not a known entity to the public as of yet, but there are a lot of them out there! What we learned was that it is best to have a particular area you want to really focus your practice in...orginizational skills, helping people prepare for career changes, education, etc. Also, be sure to take a few basic business classes to learn how to promote yourself. Take your first few clients as pro bono or at greatly reduced rates as a way to build up a referral basis. I hope some of this helps you and good luck on your studies!

I don't know where you are training, but you may need to re-examine your facility. This is exactly the sort of issue a life coach should be able to handle. Are you certain you have chosen the right career path? If so, check around for a different teacher. If you are asking on Yahoo questions, your current teacher is WAY inadequate, no offense to Yahoo questions intended.

That's because the whole concept is based on pseudo-physchology and unsubstantiated drivel, like NLP. Successful life coaches are, essentially, con-artists. Maybe you are just too nice to go down that road?

that is not a homeschooling question. Here, in the homeschooling category it is miscategorized. I'm not sure where that question would feel more at home, but I'm sure you can think of something, like careers, or something.....
