the baby can survive just fine it is the fear of infections setting in
if the birth takes more than 24 hours. My doctors were more concerned that germs could get into my body than with the baby. the baby can survive they don't really breath till they are born and the mucus removed from their mouth and nose.
now if it is not born within a day there are risks and they would usually do a csection to speed the delivery. but to answer your question the baby can survive a couple days after the water breaks. but labor usually delivers the child within 12 to 24 hours.

The baby can survive for a long time, but the general rule is that if you haven't delivered the baby within 24 hours of the water breaking, you need to get something to help the baby along, usually Pitocin. At this point, you need to be in a hospital, as this is an emergency situation.

most of the time when the water breaks, the baby will plug up the hole. Kinda like when toys get in the way of the drain plug in the tub. Her body will (more than likely) force the baby out before the baby is in danger of not being able to breath. But if her water breaks then go to the hospital. NO HUGE RUSH. NO car accidents. Just drive normal. Not like my hubby.(he spilled OJ all over and made my laugh so hard I was crying)!! funny

Most doctors want to have the baby delivered within 24 hours of the water breaking to avoid the risk of infection.

There is still amniotic fluid in the babies lungs, the baby has never breathed oxygen so it can survive on what is still in the lungs. Thants why they suction the babies nose and mouth when they are born. But i would assume they cant survive too long, but the human body wont let the baby just sit in there it will drop out.

The baby can survive plenty of time.
It just may be more painful for you, when the baby comes out...if most of the fluid is gone.
It happened to me. My premature baby was less than five lbs, but it hurt when she passed through (my son who was normal size/weight did not) cause the fluid had all come out the day before.
Go to the hospital, like they said. Have someone drive you. Don't bother going to see your doctor first, like they ask you to.

Your body continues to make amniotic fluid and it is replenished. Doctors usually want to see the baby born within 24 hours after her water breaks in order to help lessen the chance of infection though.

I had went into early labor with my daughter & nevertheless my water had broke suitable alongside with it, yet I purely sat on the tolite peeing for 10 minutes. How embarracing. the toddler blocked my bladder together with her head so everytime she moved identity pee and pee and pee.. properly, they stopped me with magnisuim sulfate. and regularly labor dont accure till finally 23 weeks. If her water has broke they gained't be waiting to end the labor by way of probability of an infection now if she nonetheless has her ammiontic sac and shes have been given a small leak then they are going to be waiting to maintain toddler maximum probable. Theyd placed her on anti boitics..this happens alot.. yet, i wish its no longer something to rigidity approximately & I wish the toddler success purely pray for her and the toddler.. For a few hours really, however the risk of infection increases over time however. The baby can pass meconium, and cause an infection that requires antibiotic and can make the baby sick.

depends on the age of the baby. Sometimes it reseals itself, sometimes you get an infection and it has to come out. Sometimes it leaks for weeks which is not too good because the baby needs it to help its lungs develope.
