Not sure but courge in French means squash. Therefore by definition is a small squash.

Both are what are known as Cucurbits. Same Genus, a courgette (zucchini) is also a marrow, but a marrow is a courgette that has been allowed to grow to 'outsize'. It is likely that a marrow is a particualr type of courgette bred for its size at maturity.

As some one allready hinted at, a marrow is a type of courgette, but it has been bred to grow to a larger size. not all types of courgette will grow to a marrow. (some will, and will taste horribly bitter though).

you could ask "is a marrow a large courgette?" which would start a whole new debate....

Same thing. We have a customer who was away on their hols, and their courgettes (which they love) had grown into marrows (which they don't love) so they gave us one, and yesterday there were a couple left on our doorstep.

Coorgettes are baby marrows, if you forget to pick them when small they just go on growing and can get really, really big! You can eat the flowers too, they are yummy deep fried in a bit of batter!
