I don't even know where to start answering this question. To begin with, the moronic WALMART cheer you have to do every day, along with your exercise and cheerleader class are enough to make the job undesireable.
As a yard spotter, you are moving trailers belonging to a huge number of companies, and you know that a moment of inattention can result in tens of thousands of dollars worth of property damage, for which you will ultimately be liable, as Walmart won't back you up when it comes to insurance payouts. They'll pay the claim, but you'll be on the streets.
Working at a Walmart DC, you can see that the majority of the people working with you are held to 36 hours a week, and do not qualify as full time employees, so they don't get the benefits available to the full timers.
The overt mistrust and close supervision you get must make you feel like a little kid kept inside the fenced yard.
I guess the answer is that there is nothing wrong with YOU working for Walmart, but I wouldn't do it. I won't even shop at Walmart.

Nothing at all wrong with working for, or shopping at, Wal-Mart. If you like what they are doing, that is fine. Wal-Mart is doing a good job of meeting the needs of its customers and employees; if that were not so, the people would go elsewhere. I don't shop much at Wal-Mart myself because there does not happen to be a store at convenient distance.

Wal-Mart goes into small towns in more rural places in America (as well as big cities) and runs all of the small business owners out of business because they cannot compete with wal-marts prices. Thus many of these small towns are just houses and a wal mart. Mom and pop shops are gone in pace of a coin operated ice cream car and greeter with smiley faces. I for one do not like that. There are no Wal Marts in the Boston area because the people are not going to put up with such a big corporation running places out of business. You are also one of the lucky ones who gets paid decent wages. Most only get minimum wage or perhaps a bit more. I know other people who work for wal-mart. Does that answer your question?

It's because they focus on low prices for the shopper, but everybody knows that it is really corporate greed driving the idealism. We the public are not stupid. Anything that wants to expand that rapidly is driven by greed, its never enough. Its like a cancer that wont stay put, but must keep growing despite itself. Doing good in the world by offering low prices can be done at a single corner shop, having to be in every city possible is pathological.

There may be some policy decisions that Wal-Mart makes that are in question, but you are making an honest living and should not worry about small minded people.

Congratulations! You are in good hands with Wal-Mart. I work in a Wal-Mart store and I'm thankful for many of us workers in having the opportunity to have a job. They give many people jobs that other companies would not. I am proud to lift up my head high, and say to anyone, in a proud and noble way.....that I work for Wal-Mart.

Not a spiritually related question but I have to admit, everything you have said is correct. I worked for WallyWorld and they chewed me up and spit me out 80 Hours a week. 1995 $5.50/Hr. I am glad I don't work for them any more. I make much more now.

I don't think anything is wrong with working at Wal-Mart. Sounds like you have it pretty good. Sam Walton would've been proud.
