I'm using Excel 2003 and want to post various charts on a web page. Right now, I copy the chart to the clipboard, dump it to Microsoft Paint, and save the image file. I'd like the image to be a specific size.

Using MS Paint, you will need to experiment some, but you can do it. Determine the size you need and do a copy from the chart in Excel and Paste in MSPaint. In Paint, resize the background to be snug with your chart and then do Ctl-E or Image Attributes. If the size is not near what you want, make note of general percentages you need to change larger or smaller.

Then go back to Excel and re-size the chart using those estimates. Copy and Paste again, resize, etc. Check the size and repeat until you have the size that is acceptable to you.

It is best to resize it in Excel instead of in Paint so the distortion is minimized. Once you have the size you like, note the general size of the chart in Excel and as you make your new charts, you will have a general idea of what size to make them for the copy/paste process.

You may need to tweak font sizes and axis scales and units to enhance the appearance of the chart once it is in paint, but do all your tweaking in Excel, you have much more control than in paint and Paint's stretch will pixelate your image especially if you are enlarging. Adjust Excel's zoom percentage if you need to enlarge and still see the whole chart.

There is some power in paint and the price is certainly right, but there is much more power in Excel!

Good Luck!

You can simply use MS PhotoEditor (comes with MS Office - you might even have it installed, look under microsoft tools in the start menu) to resize the chart to the pixels size of your liking.
