Yes. Adam and Eve + sons = SUPPOSEDLY THE ONLY HUMAN BEINGS IN EXISTENCE. Either the Bible simply doesn't talk about God harvesting a few more bodies out of mud or there was a little inter-family hanky panky.

It would seem like that would be about the only way things could have progressed at least until the giants intermingled (later in Gen.) But then again, incest has been part of life for many centuries in all parts of the world. It did not used to be taboo, it was the norm. Look at the history of England or of all royalty. They intermarried and married family so much they ended up having hemophilia. We know it is not accepted as general practice today but there are a lot of things in the bible that would not fly by todays standards.

I realize that many people will have snide lil comments to make to this question..... but seriously consider..... the scriptures say that Adam and Eve were the first....... it does not however say they were the "only" .......Also there is no time table given for the garden of Eden we have no idea how long Adam was there prior to Eve's creation.. apparently it was an expanse of time because the scriptures show that God realized Adam was lonely...Theoretically it is possible that Adam and Eve spent millions of years in the garden prior to eating of the fruit and being cast out.... remember prior to eating of the fruit... they did not age according to scripture.... only after eating the fruit did they begin to age and die.... The scriptures say that Adam was over 600 years old when he died.... however consider..... was that from the time of his creation..... or from the time he ate and began to age.....
Genesis 4:16 And Cain went out from the presence of the LORD, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden.
This is also where he found a wife...... and this area is in a different "region" ... therefore showing the possiblility of Gods creation of an entire "culture" in an area... rather than stopping after Adam and Eve.

God bless you have a great day.

the point isn't Adam and Eve the point is that God is the creator. How do you explain Gods tool of evolution to sheep herders who can't read? You make up a metaphor put moral lessons in it that describe the human soul and then you assume that there not stupid enough to take it literally but spiritually. The sheep herders were capable of actually doing that. I Don't know maybe people just got stupid.

In the flood, Noah, his wife, his three sons, and their wives were all of humanity that was spared. Though they were descendants of Adam and Eve, they were by then far removed in the biological chain. Thus, the generations started over without incestuous heritage.

The story of Adam and Eve, like most of Genesis, is mythical. There was a first man, and there was a first woman, but they never met: they lived 250,000 years apart.

I have often wondered that myself! I can't say to be a religious person, because I was raised back to back Cath/Morm. I have often wondered why God would have eve give birth to her sons then give birth to her grandchildren before Kaine and Able went out to find their daughters to marry and give birth to their sons, or is it grandsons or.. well, this is why I am so confused. I am not being smart or blasphemes. There is no amount of faith inside my closed mind that allows me to except this in any context. So, please don't get me started on the Horses that disappeared in Utah around the time of Joseph Smith.

Yes. Eve would have been Adam's genetic double. His twin sister, only more like a double clone of his x chromosome. eeeewwwwww.

who declares something to be a sin or not? God. So, if at a later date, he says it is forbidden to marry brother or sister, then it becomes a sin. It wasn't a sin at that time. And probably for a very good reason. I would assume He knew what He was doing, wouldn't you? After all, He did create our bodies and knows everything about them and what we need, what is harmful or beneficial.
