He knows it's you that's calling and he's perked up about it. Under those circumstances, "Hey you" is affectionate. You wouldn't expect him to say "Hello" knowing that it's you, would ya? And if you're thinking he should be even more affectionate, don't expect him to answer with "Hello darling" or "Hi sugarplum". The farthest he could possibly push it is "Hey babe". It's just a guy thing.

if he has caller ID he just knows its you. I do that all the time when I know my husband is calling. I have caller ID.
