Everytime I talk to my boyfriend on the phone he answers by saying, "hey you" what does that mean?

He knows it's you that's calling and he's perked up about it. Under those circumstances, "Hey you" is affectionate. You wouldn't expect him to say "Hello" knowing that it's you, would ya? And if you're thinking he should be even more affectionate, don't expect him to answer with "Hello darling" or "Hi sugarplum". The farthest he could possibly push it is "Hey babe". It's just a guy thing.

It's kind of a slangy way to greet someone, but I'm sure he just uses that expression as his way of saying "hi".

he's just saying Hey you. as it is a loving term.. My hubby says it all the time.

if he has caller ID he just knows its you. I do that all the time when I know my husband is calling. I have caller ID.
