If you wanna really get the odds right, we need to know whose in charge of his security detail and what his travel plans, roughly are.

There is actually some valid point to this. I think the more potent question is if the Pope is killed by a Muslim would this ignite a holy war, possibly a global religious war? I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but the assasination of the Archduke set off a major world conflict, and much like then we have a powder keg of emotion and galavanting to suggest this is a major issue. However in context the Pope did nothing wrong but the opposing group takes it as an opportunity to draw support.
Just a couple of cents.

I think this is a question that will only foster hate.
We can't just lump all Muslims together. There are different kinds of Muslims just like there are different kinds of Christians.
If the Islamic fundamentalists who are upset about one little quote from an ancient manuscript - enough to kill a nun - target the pope - you'd better hope they don't lump all Christians together they way you've lumped all Muslims together. That would put us all at risk. Both Protestant and Catholic alike since we are all Christian.
Time would be much better spent praying for peace.

tough call. The pope has better protection than you think. I'm betting that if this stuff doesn't calm down, then within about a year and a half. Depends on how much the pope travels.

One already tried in the 80s. He didn't succeed. However, he is the one who is telling the Pope now to be careful and not visit Turkey, as he planned. Who knows - everything in G-d's hands, and Pope should know this better than most people.

Actually, pope said those things just to become headlines on newspapers and media. He knows hardly any Christians think more about him than any regular popstar. That's why he tried to be on for a few weeks by throwing up such comments.
And Muslims are not going to kill him.

Since there are more than 1 billion Catholics on the planet it would not be a good idea for them to do that. Catholics are normally docile people until you start messing with the Pope----then they break out the guns and go to work.

I wondered the same thing while watching the news this morning. I was surprised to see him in public with no bullet proof carriage that the other pope used. I think people should think before they speak. Terrorists aren't the type of people that I would want to piss off!!!

I believe they will if they can. Why do you think they wanted an apology in person? Why would anyone be so crude as to make the Pope's safety a matter of odds making?

properly, a Muslim tried - about two decades in the past. the end result changed into that the Pope forgave him, he (Mehmet Ali Agca) 'grew to change into Christian', and (per chance no longer coincidentally) also grew to change into thoroughly certifiably hatstand, and spend an outstanding many years in penal complicated. They were speaking about liberating him a year or 2 in the past yet i do not imagine they did.
