HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) is a virus that causes AIDS. It is transmitted via semen, blood, vaginal secretions, through the placenta to an unborn child, sharing needles. You CANNOT get it from a handshake, toilet seat, hugs, sharing a drink, etc. What happens is when the virus is introduced, say through sexual contact, the virus attaches itself to the cell wall of a healthy cell in your body. The immune response begins and sends out CD-4 cells. The virus injects it's RNA int the healthy cell's nucleus and begins it transcription of the virus in the new cells. The cell then replicates itself., and destroys the CD-4 cells. A person can be without symptoms for days, monthe, or even years. Eventually what happens, the CD-4 cell count diminishes, and the person begins to be more susceptible to common infections that would normally be of minor irritation to someone without the virus. The flu could be catastrophic to a person with AIDS. There currently is no cure, and the infected person will ultimately die from this.

What is HIV?
HIV stands for human immunodeficiency virus. It is the virus that causes AIDS. A member of a group of viruses called retroviruses, HIV infects human cells and uses the energy and nutrients provided by those cells to grow and reproduce.
What is AIDS?
AIDS stands for acquired immunodeficiency syndrome. It is a disease in which the body's immune system breaks down and is unable to fight off infections, known as "opportunistic infections," and other illnesses that take advantage of a weakened immune system.

Sorry to confirm what others have told you, but you are a little dumb!
HIV means Human Deficency Virus and is what precludes AIDS.
It can't be caught be drinking from the same glass or eating from the sane fork etc as so many people still believe
There is no cure as yet, but drugs can help slow the development into AIDS.
Please find out more about this as those in ignorance are the biggest cause of its spreading!
(I don't mean to suggest you're dumb! I just want everyone to be more aware of their sexual activity!!)
