You must immerse yourself in the language to have any hope of speaking it fluently. Stop speaking the native language and focus entirely on the second language.

Many communities offer ESL (English as a Second Language) classes. Don't be shy. Speak with people as much as possible.

Practice makes perfect. Do all the things you usually do but all of them in English!

Think, speak, even feel in English. Experience the language - speaking and reading are just 2 aspects of it.

Online English - conversational method - is now available. With technology available like Yahoo messenger. Consider setting aside some time to "chat" with a friend regularly.

Pimsleur's audio is great. I've downloaded Italian lessons through netlibrary.com which is a free service when you go through your library (at least it's free through my library.) This is geared towards your learning to speak the language. If you purchase the original lessons, you'll get reading lessons which will get you familiar with the written language. Good Luck! PS: there are several English lessons available.
