I mean, there could not be two more opposite products and philosophies that i can think of, what will happen to bumper stickers that state, "Chevy drivers don't allow friends to drive Fords" or something like that?.. sign of the times i guess, i wasn't aware that Ford owned Jaguar and and some other foreign automakers either...

Two opposite ideas on how things should go, but each would have ideas the other needs
No what's funny is the companies each spun off (depli/delco for Gm and visteon for Ford) is actually doing business with the former competitor now...
But truthfully Fod and GM are my two favorite car companies and at the allainces wouldn't be split for me as it can get sometimes (I love Ford trucks, but GM can make more power)
But yeah those Gm and Ford haters would go blind if they had both become one...

It would be ok if the fords took the chevy engine's but it would be really bad to go buy a car and not know if you were buying a chevy w/ achevy engine or chevy w/ a ford engine.

FIRST I THINK THAT IS RIDICULOUS, SECONDLY THE REASON THAT THEY ARE IN FINANCIAL RUINS IS BECAUSE THEY HAVE TOO MANY RETIREES THEY HAVE TWICE AS MANY RETIREES AS EMPLOYEES SO THAT'S WHY THEY ARE OFFERING BUYOUTS WITH NO HEALTH CARE. THIRDLY IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN WILLIAM FORD WILL NOT GIVE UP HIS SEAT TO ANOTHER PERSON TO TAKE CONTROL. NOW I THINK IF WE WOULD BUY AMERICAN CARS AND NOT FOREIGN ONES WE WOULD HAVE A BOOMING ECONOMY WHICH IN TURN WOULD MAKE THE CAR MANUFACTURERS A PROFIT. Hilarious is not the word - sad is more like it. This proposed merger is due to their lack of competitive success against imported car lines. Unfortunately, merging two failing companies would only leave us with one larger failing company and fewer domestic brands to battle the import flood.
