It is no doubt partly due to human nature, I think a lot of us tend to be somewhat competitive when it comes to driving. I think it also has to do with the road themselves. In many cases a no passing zone with the double yellow will be more hazardous while a stretch on which you can pass will be long and straight which obviously promotes faster driving.

That why you get a car that goes faster than 70 mph so when you step on the gas, your able to cruise around them.

But in a flip of the coin....

With the price of gas and tickets, I don't go past the limit more than 5 mph. If I am not going fastest enough, pass me, but don't expect me to take it out of cruise control so you can drive like an idiot.

They call them road hogs and they just love to lead a pack of cars. They do it on the 4 lane freeways too, hog the left lane and make you go to the right and then they will speed up so you can't get around.

I found the solution, hit passing gear and don't dilly-dally passing them! Go by them before then can do anything about it.

If you think its aggravating in a car, try making your living in a truck with people doing that to you all day long. Just a side note: Seattle is one of the worst city's to drive a truck in, people will run 50mph in the fast lane for miles on end with no regard for the backup they create.

To answer you honestly, you have to understand one thing....There are some people in this world that we call "assholes" These "assholes" will do anything to piss off the rest of us just for the shear enjoyment of it.We have to let these people know we notice their "fun" by giving them the one finger salute and let them know they're #1.
