It's one of two issues generally. They either haven't been truly converted, or they believe in what I call "greasy grace."
Those who fall into the trap of believing that they can sin without consequences are in for a rude shock one day. God is not slack in His promises.
As it is written: "For the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and he punishes every son he accepts." (Hebrews 12:6)

Whether you call yourself a Christian or are actually a Christian makes no difference....We all sin. The only 2 people to walk the planet without even a trace of sin were Jesus and the Virgin Mary. There is nothing wrong with repenting for what you've done or in going to Confession either. We can't help but to sin. What's important is that we seek forgiveness in the Lord.
Peace....

Well, they obviously don't think it's o.k. or else they wouldn't be repentive. We all sin, Christian or not. That is what we are...sinners. Are you talking about committing the same pattern of sin over and over again? Repenting of the same sin everyday so to speak? If that is the case, then there is an addiction problem involved. The Christian thing is to be constantly moving forward toward God. We all fight the evil and temptation of the world. The point is to move out of that sin toward righteousnous.

Only a fool would believe that it is ok to sin. However, when we do, we can ask for forgiveness. This is not a "clean slate" wiping. Absolution of sin can only be receive with a contrite heart (truly being sorry for ones sin and having the desire to not commit them again). More importantly, we must remember that retribution must be paid for our sins, even after forgiveness (as gold tested in fire). If our retribution is not paid here, we will be imprisoned until every penny is paid before we can hope to enter the Kingdom.

Your question is put in a way to indicate that people purposely sin without though because they believe they will be forgiven.
This just isn't the case. God knows our hearts. There is no fooling Him.
Yes, people sin. Protestants just repent. Catholics repent and perform acts of penance and restitution for their actions. This helps us stay away from future sin.
Sometimes repeated sin can be a sign of demonic influence. (Not possession - big difference) In such a case serious work is needed, but often the religious education has not taught them this.
In the case where one person just continues to sin, their repentance is not genuine - they will not be forgiven. They're fooling themselves to think they are.

I don't believe it is OK to sin, I think it is awful and should be avoided at all costs but we all make mistakes. Because I am a christian I am turned into some superhero who never messes up? No, God knows how long I was a sinner and it is not easy to break old habits but with God it can be done. No one just goes to church one day and is a different, new perfect person. If we were perfect we wouldn't need God. I try my best to do what is right because I want to be a good example for others and I want to be in right standing with God. I know he loves me and as many times as I mess up he will forgive me and this is my greatest motivation to not mess up! I hope this helps!! God Bless

For those people, they are just setting themselves up to have their names erased out of the book of life. But as Christians, we will sin because we are born into. Adam and Eve committed the first, original sin, so everyone under them are born into sin. But as we sin, we are to repent, but then we are to learn from that and try not to do it again.
That is different from what you are saying though. You are talking about people who continually commit the same sin and then repent. Those are the ones who are setting themselves up for a great question and answer session at the Gates. God does forgive, dont get me wrong, but just as a parent, He will also punish when one doesn't learn from their mistakes. Unconditional love does not negate disciplinary action for bad behavior.

Everyone sins "on a regular basis." Being Christian doesn't take away your humanity.
Repentance is ADMITTING you have sinned and seeking to change for the better. It is not thinking "it is ok to sin." It is understanding that it is WRONG to sin and trying to change. It is taking responsibility and recognizing that the human condition DOES NOT make apathy to sin acceptable.

Try and try again, we are not perfect and we are only human. The more I learn about the plan that God has for me the less I sin or go against His will for the plans that He has for me here on Earth. We all have a sin nature even after Salvation. The battle is on each day, every minute and second of our lives, do I serve God? Do I serve myself? God gave us a free will and we choose either way. Even if we choose not to decide we still have made a choice. I do my best each day to serve God and I'm only getting better at it each day. Amen

Because people sin. Christ came to save sinners. Those who do not sin have no need of salvation.
If one is asking for forgiveness then continuing to engage in the same sin, then one is not drawing upon God's strength to overcome the sin. People who do this may not be asking God for his power; may not be wanting it, because they love the sin more; or may be learning something so that when the sin is finally eradicated in their life they may be better equipped to help others with the same problem seek the help and grace of God in overcoming it.
