This is one of four fundamental questions of life. The other three being, "Who am I (what am I worth)?"; "Where did I come from?"; and "Where will I go when I die?" Every thinker who has ever lived has considered one or more of these questions at least once in their life. It is best to consider first, "where did I come from?" The answer to this question relates directly to the other three.
There are only two solutions to this controversial question. The implication is there are only two real solutions to the other three questions as well.
The two worldviews are Special Creation (Somebody made everything), and Naturalistic Evolution (everything made itself). Either Someone made the universe (space, time, matter and energy, with all of their complexity, all the laws, such as gravity, inverse squares, cause and effect, thermodynamics, etc.) or nobody made the universe. Prior to the 20th century, it was debated whether or not the universe was eternal. 20th century science confirmed that the universe indeed had a beginning. So how and why did it begin?

I see that most either are not reading the full text, or simply don't comprehend the question.

Well, to start to at the end of your soliloquy, if the universe is confirmed to have a beginning, then what was here before that? If we don't know anything about before the universe beginning, what difference does it make on knowing how or why it began? It does seem that you acknowledge that you are here as you ask why you are here? I question your first assumption that you are here at all. For that matter why should we assume the the universe is at all?. For all I know it isn't at all. Other than ASSUMPTIONS we have nothing in this discussion. If we play around and agree on some assumptions, then we may agree on some possibilities. Otherwise, the only thing I can think of as to why you are "here" is because you think you are "here". Good luck on where ever you are, whatever you are, wherever you came from and wherever you may "go" after you die. Hmmmmm

We...scientist that is, can only look back to a few hundred thousand years after the big bang. All of our current mathematical models are insufficient to describe what happen at time/space=0.
What I don't understand is why is is so painful for some to accept that we are here today because of our ancestors...right back to the first living cells. Why is that any less wonderful that the belief that a "god" made us? And if God did make us...who made god?

Basic Question:
2nd Timothy 2:21
If you keep yourself pure, you will be a utensil God can use for his purpose. Your life will be clean, and you will be ready for the Master to use you for every good work.

For the philosophical whole you are on your own. You must deal with Genesis 1:1 "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." I personally have come to accept this as truth.

You are here because your parents had sex.

BTW, 20th century science only confirmed that this universe had a beginning. It says nothing about the environment that existed before this universe that allowed this universe to happen, if there even was a "before".

there are different theories regarding this question. Genesis is one chapter which may help you understand, however, there will be more questions as you gain in wisdom and knowledge. remember no one will ever know everything about anything as scientists are still making and always will make new discoveries. these new discoveries may require new thinking as time passes. what is believed to be true today may be proven false tomorrow.

You are the accidental product of unthinking, undirected natural processes in a universe governed entirely by randomness and probability.
