yeah... but, it's not the real world.. well, the real world is depressing too. I have an idea... why don't you sit on a park bench for a while, watch some dogs go by, some children play, then go home and make some soup? probably what i should do, too. i totally understand.

Sometimes ,yes. When I read the mindless dogma that some people believe I am rather dejected. But I will say that there are quite a few out there that do think, and reason, within their faith. I am an atheist, but have been impressed by some of the thoughtful comments made. Will I then believe in God? No. But try not to group all the ignorant with the thought full. Hard some times, but there is a distinction.

Yes. An extreme amount of ignorance floats around this site. Yet, I observe it as coming from both sides. I have also seen many ridiculous questions and answers in support of evolution or against religion or any form thereof.
So many today seem hard-headed and unreasoning. They do not even attempt to think for themselves, but instead blindly follow the thoughts of another, whether it be clergy or science.
If only such ones were respectful of others beliefs and opinions we might actually get somewhere. Conversations and debates could become constructive. Ah, one can wish...

The questions that do it for me are the ones where the pro-creationist people bash evolution. I swear, my brain melts a little every time I read one of those posts. If you don't like evolution, fine, but if you're going to attack it, bring actual facts to the table. They're so sure that evolution is wrong and yet their understanding of the theory is so poor that I'd laugh if it wasn't so pathetic. One person said, "Evolution can't be true, because if it were, we wouldn't die, we would just evolve, right?" With that kind of understanding, that person has no right to make a judgement about whether or not evolution is true. If he/she had done any research WHATSOEVER, they wouldn't be asking stuff like that... and then, in the next breath, dismiss the theory altogether. It just totally boggles my mind.
People find it funny when people like me care so much, but I just can't help but shake my head at so many of these people. It's sort of like their belief in God; they don't have any proof in God, but they still believe he exists. They also don't have any proof that evolution is false, but they'll still, I guess forever, feel that it is.
Edit: Also, I don't think I'll be able to stomach another person trying to claim that creationism or "Intelligent Design" is science. They just... don't... get it... *sigh*

Fellow "intelligent people"? Hey - you leave me out of this! LOL!!!
No tears - I just know that some things just are that way. I've got to much else to do that's worthwhile doing to worry about creationist propaganda because I know what it is - a complete misunderstanding and misrepresentation of what "evolution" REALLY means: that we probably all came from a common ancestor - not that there is no God - "evolution" doesn't address that question at all and it is a bit of a leap to get from one to the other.

Yeah especially when people like you laugh at comments that would hurt a child. That was ignorant and made me want to weep giant tears for humanity especially if they thought the same way you did.

I'm more inclined to feel distaste for the condescending posts by egotists with delightful superiority complexes.
Thank goodness (woops, nothingness) you don't have to slum it with us idiots! Phew. It must be a huge relief that you were blessed with (woops, randomly predisposed to) such great intellect. You better get rid of all us morons who aren't nearly as bright as you.

You may have some intelligence, but you have no humility. "weep giant tears for humanity"? Your tears are small.
Christ's blood was shed for you, and yet you love yourself and seek to want others to know how much you suffer on their account--all bleeding in the streets and everything. But this is just a vain question--and the only suffering I can see expressed in it is that people won't follow what you think is the path.
If you had any idea what humanity was, you would know that there are all types, with all levels of intelligence and all levels of humility and pride. You wouldn't find yourself so quick to weep your tiny--albeit viewed in disproportion, since they're allegedly coming from your own eyes and thereby distorting your view--tears if you understood that all of us people, everywhere, have the chance for a relationship with the One who shall end all suffering and ignorance.
You may wish to pray to him to ask which type of ignorance he abhors.

Yes. I had a hard time coming here today after I had a fanatic believer send me several emails yesterday with their 'proof' of god. Knowing there is no proof one way or the other, I am almost ready to give up defending my belief.

I don't want to cry, but I do want to yell and scream and call them names. I wish people were smarter, but if everyone were smart, then it would just be the standard and then no one would be smart. People who don't think just frustrate me. I imagine we atheists and agnostics feel somewhat like Bernard from Brave New World. Why don't they see what we see? is how I feel all the time. I think it's got something to do with IQ though. They just don't enjoy thinking about complex subjects, so they don't do it. If it hurt my brain to think about stuff, I'd still be a Christian too.
