Hi,
An Ipod is a media player that is capable (but not limited) of playing both Mp3 and Mp4 files. There are many media player like ipod available, but the ipod is the best selling one.

What is Mp3? An mp3 file is a compressed audio file, this audio file has been compressed to consume less space on the media player's memory. This compression takes away the frequencies that normal speakers can not produce, in other words, by leaving out these frequencies, the audio file has become smaller in size, this is what an Mp3 file is.

What is an Mp4 than you wonder? ;)
This can be a sound file, a video file, a video file with sound or a subtitle file. But, most of the time mp4 files are being used for video with audio files.

An ipod is a nice gift, there are many different i-pods available as you can read in the link I provided.

I hope this answered your questions?

Kind regards,
Sebastiaan Draaisma from Sweden (Also father of a daughter) ;)

Well an ipod is just the brand. There are lots of MP3 players to choose from which all pretty much do the same thing. MP4 is the next generation of the MP3. If you can afford it, why not buy her the ipod.
