going against the ten commandments(thou shalt not kill). A Muslim is told by Allah to kill all people that don't believe in him. A Christian is to turn to another cheek and not kill. How can we protect outselves without sining

Man!! some of you need to retract your claws. I never said I was a Christian, Muslim or Jew. I am asking your opinion.
If I had to answer my own question, I would defend myself first (be it kill someone) and then worry about God, Allah or whatever after. Geez.

I just pulled out the Bible... it says thou shalt not kill. It doesn't have a star by it with footnotes stating that kill is not murder. Maybe I need to learn Hebrew and learn what the Bible really says, because there might be a lot of Christians missing the true meaning of things .. in general.

if Islam allow me to marry christian or jewish, should i go kill my wife by now?
and to your knowledge Islam also has turn the other cheek:
Quran 41:34
[34] The good deed and the evil deed cannot be equal. Repel (the evil) with one which is better (i.e. Allâh ordered the faithful believers to be patient at the time of anger, and to excuse those who treat them badly) then verily he, between whom and you there was enmity, (will become) as though he was a close friend.

The correct translation is "ratsach" or murder.
Actually Jesus came to fulfill the Old Testament, not to abolish it, so the Old Testament still applies. While it is true that one of the 10 commandments says, "thou shall not murder" You will need to look at other scripture where you are justified in the taking of another life.
Gen 9:6 “Whoever sheds man's blood, by man his blood shall be shed, for in the image of God He made man.
Exo 23:7 "Keep far from a false charge, and do not kill the innocent or the righteous, for I will not acquit the guilty.
And the correct translation is for ratsach is murder.
ratsach; a prim. root; to murder, slay: - killed (1), kills the manslayer (1), manslayer (18), murder (7), murdered (2), murderer (12), murderer shall be put (1), murderers (1), murders (1), put to death (1), slew (1).
So if you are attacked, you can defend yourself, even if that comes to cause the death of another person.

First, a Christian is not considered an "unbeliever" really. The Quran says that Christians are closest to Muslims in belief. Christians and Jews are called Ahul Kitab, people of the book, and are believers in the One God too.
Second, whoever murders one, it is as if he had murdered all of humanity.
But if you are Christian, you may not protect yourself. You have to turn the other cheek, no matter if your assialant is Christian, Muslim, pagan, or atheist. But you can pray. With God, all things are possible. Maybe the assailant will strike you and fall over from a heart attack. ;-)

Turning the other cheek has nothing to do with taking whatever someone decides to throws at you. It was meant as an insult to the person hitting you, back in the time of Jesus. They hit you on the right cheek, you turn your cheek so they have to use their left hand if they want to hit you. The left hand was used for other "things" back then. It would be an insult to them to have to hit you with the left. It had nothing to do with ignoring them or taking any form of punishment verbal or physical from them. You are to defend yourself and your faith. That is not sinning, that is standing up for yourself and your beliefs. Yes, Vengeance belongs to the Lord and it does...He will repay in the end of days. That in no way means to get walked on.
Killing with cause is justified according to God, murder however is not, because murder is killing without cause.

According to Scripture, you cannot "protect" yourself with violence, nor can you use violence to protect yourself and not "sin." You must love your neighbor as you would yourself. You must love your enemies (not to be confused with supporting terrorists). You must love others as Jesus loved us, which was a love so strong he was willing to die for his friends. That's the kind of Christian most Christians do not want to become, so instead they go to the old testament and find the passage that says: An eye for an eye.
But to answer your question, it's probably best to stop thinking about how you can defend yourself from something that hasn't happened to you. All we have to fear is fear itself (it doesn't say that in the bible).

Plenty of Christians are in the Middle East right now killing Muslims who didn't try and kill them first. They don't seem to mind.

The Hebrew, which is the original language of that text, states: You shall not murder,
When properly translated it is clear it is not referring to self defense.

Oh thats an easy one...the Christian should pull out his 9mm and waste anyone trying to hurt/kill him or her. It's called self defense.
PS: Worry about explaining what happened to St. Paul at the gates.

It is not a mortal sin to protect oneself from harm. The sin enters into the equation when one enjoys defending himself to the point where he looks forward to it or even goes out of his way to encounter danger.
