HI I have cervical sprain in my neck and I have TMD(the disc is dis-located). I have been in Physical Therapy a few times to treat the muscles and pain I have had from these ailments. This has been going on for about 9 years and I have been able to keep it under control with mouth guards and occasional PT. But this time I feel that I need to try something new and hopefully get rid of the pain I have been feeling.
Does anyone have any advice on a specific doctor to see?
Thanks in advance.

chiropractor or neurologist

Talk to a chiropractor about the pain. But be careful and do research on any treatment you suspect is off. Massage therapy may also help.

There are also people out there called Pain Management Specialists. They are MDs with a specialty in pain management. You may want to locate one and talk with them. They have great techniques that could help.

A Neurologist or a spinal cord injury expert could be able to help relocate the disc surgically.

There are lots of options. Pain sucks (I know). You shouldn't have to suffer.

See an otolaryngologist or a head and neck surgeon. Proper diagnosis of what is causing your TMJ disorder should be the first step before you can proceed to management and therapy.

i'd say chiropractor but they're just as bad.

once you got these issues they seem to live with you for ever!

only a few short times i seen folks give up and go yoga and it worked.

?

maybe check out yoga, the real thing not those crappy places where the yuppies hang out.

a bit of stretching may help.

pilates may help.

but seek a professional about that, yellow pages time!

OH did they give you water therapy also? being in water helps, only temporarily but it helps.

sounds like they munged you up a bit.

that happens so often i don't know what or who to recommend.

once they mess with your bones and nerves that way it's over.

just like with dentists and foot specialists.

It sounds to me like you have TMJ....basically its arthritis in your jaw...You need to see a rheumatoligist....I have TMJ and got a shot of Cortisone in my jaw, the last time it bothered me...
that was 5 years ago...it hasn't come back since....
good luck, and God Bless to a fellow sufferer...

There are some massage therapists that will work on TMJ. Also, you might try accupuncture.
