Somebody once disclosed this to me, and I have been curious for years if I was right in my reaction. Somebody asked me last week what I would do in this situation if confronted again, so now I want to know how the consensus feels I should have reacted.

That depends on how you feel about him/her, but always use protection. There's a possibility, though, that he/she is claiming to have herpes because either they don't want to be with you or they don't want to have sex just yet.

I am absolutely terrified and I feel so alone. I just found out last week that I tested positive for hsv1 and 2. I have been with the same man for the past 10 years and within the last year found out that he has cheated on me with numerous women. I am so scared that I can give it to my children by kissing them and them eating with me...I feel like my whole life has changed. And even though the nurses, my doctor, and websites say that a lot of people have it I still feel like I am by myself. My self esteem has dropped and I feel like I have been used up. But now, My life is very happy.

Herpes is an STD that can not be treated.Herpes can cause you to break out in places that the sun doesnt shine and have you looking like you ate a bad "cookie" If you know what I mean. You dont wanna take that chance playa.I say if your really horny sleep with her bestfriend instead and maybe she will leave you alone.Think of her as a Zombie.

Well of course don't act totally grossed out or in shock when first being told and in a casual manner just be sympathetic. Even though as you did I would not have sex with that person at all. Even though theirs medication nowadays that is the person takes daily they have less risk of transmitting the diease to you. But I wouldn't take that chance or use a rubber, I would slip out of that relationship ASAP!!!

NEVER have unprotected sex with him/her, and realize that even if you always have protected sex there is still a risk of catching herpes. Also, remember there is no cure, so you're really playing with fire on that one...

Hmm, I am not sure, if I do get intimate with her, I'll have herpes. If I am in love with her, I do not mind kissing her though.

if it is genital herpes, you ALWAYS ALWAYS wear a condom. Simple.

If it is cold sores herpes - then you don't make out when they have an open sore, or feel one coming on.

If I cared about that person I would stay with them. I would just make sure to always use protection.
