A couple of things. If you're new to exercise, you may well be adding muscle, which means the scale isn't going to drop right away, but will over the long run. Muscle burns more calories than fat so having more muscle is a very good thing.
Also..what ARE you eating? It helps to keep track so you can see if you're really doing as well as you think you are. You'd be amazed at how many calories are in a lot of what we eat.
Try www.sparkpeople.com. It's free and you can record what you eat and track your results.
Also..our bodies don't drop weight that fast under healthy conditions. A pound or two a week is normal.
Lastly if you eat TOO little, your body will slow down and burn less so you need to still eat a healthy range of calories and good food.

You have to burn off 3,500 more calories than you consume in a day to lose a pound.
Of course, losing a pound a day is not healthy, but that is just to let you know by caloric amounts what is takes to lose a pound.
As you can see it doesn't take long to GAIN a pound a day!
I have no idea how much a gram of fat might contain. But measure a pound of chicken fat and you have an idea how much you can lose by losing 1-2 pounds a week which is a good safe amount to lose.

There are 9 calories in 1 gram of fat. Losing weight is math--count the calories you consume. Estimate the calories you expend. If you expend more than you consume, you should lose weight. If you want to make sure the calories you're losing come mostly from fat, do aerobic exercises daily (30 min), and strength train. You don't have to become a bodybuilder--just tone your muscles. It speeds up your resting metabolism and makes it less likely that the calories you burn are muscle instead of fat.
