Whats up with the GPA systems in cars?

Do they really work it seems like everyone has them. What ever happened to a good old fashion map?

GPA? Grade Point Average? Like, is my car smarter than your car?

If you mean GPS, like the Tom Tom mapping system, not everyone has them. In fact, only a few cars have them yet. It's popular because it's a gadget, and some people love to have the latest, the newest, the trendiest. I'll take a map, thank you.

In car navigations systems are great especially compared to a map because a map will not tell you to turn when you need to turn. Nav systems track your moves and can tell you where to turn and how soon you will be arriving... sounds like a great way to never get lost again to me... maps are good for what?

You mean GPS. We have one in our Honda Pilot and it's great. For one, it controls the stereo on a large touch screen display and allows for verbal commands that include radio station changing, directions and climate control settings.

Plus, if you are in a different part of town and are looking for, say, a Chinese restaurant I can search and map out everything nearby.

Yes, it's got the map function but it can have a whole lot more to it as well.

GPA is Grade Point Average. I work to keep mine up. GPS is Global Positioning System, ... well.. people can be lazy. Not only that but you can be tracked where ever you go. Doesn't sound like a good idea to me. However, they do come in handy, I'd never want one though. My car was made in 89 so I don't have one.

its called GPS - and yes they work till that software is out-dated then you will need to buy a new CD to replace the old one. Unless you dont do alot of travling id stay with the one it came with.

Yes they work great - they help alot - and DO NOT USE IT when you are drving always pull over to use it ....
