LOL i quit taking my meds about five months ago. ive been doing fine; i found that on my meds my night terrors and 'voices' as well as 'visions' were more than when i wasnt on them at all. everyone is different, so i would say talk to your doctor before making this kind of decision. they had me on risperdone (oral) and something else i forget, but the risperdone i had to take at night which is why i think it resulted in more visions at night along with scarier night terrors. its helped a lot that off my meds when i do see or hear things i proclaim it outloud to my husband so that im aware what ive just seen/heard is not real.. that has helped me more than anything.

Some suffering from the spectrum of Schizoprenia disorders do stop taking medication as the side effects are often rather unpleasant. Many respond well to medication for Schizophrenia, however stopping it abruptly may be deleterious to your health!

i can understand why people taking anti-psychs decide to come off them, but i wouldnt recommend it without consulting your doc first. however having said that schizophrenia is to the mind like diabetes is to the physical body, you can be born fine and healthy but for whtever reason develop diabetes, you start taking your meds and can control it but come off it and it only takes a matter of time before it effects you. its probably not the best exmple in the world but i hope im getting my point accross. maybe im wrong, but as far as i know maintenance medication is very important, maybe try a different kind, or combine it with the correct type of therapy??? hope i havent offended with the bluntness, i hope you find your happy medium x
