You have to remember - this fable was written by cave dwelling simpletons who thought eating shellfish was a sin..... Why not construct the gates to heaven with the minerals obtained from a dead shellfish??? Sorta of a way to "show them who they are messin with!"

The funny part is, these simpltons had no idea how a pearl was made.... It is made by sand IRRITATING the shellfish, and in reaction, the shellfish starts to coat the sand particle...building and building upon it until it forms a pearl. So, if each of the gates was made of a single HUGE pearl....then logically, one can only assume that Heaven must be one IRRITATING place....

As the verse say "The twelve gates were twelve pearls, each gate made of a single pearl. The great street of the city was of pure gold, like transparent glass." Revelation 21:21

Each gate is made out of a single pearl. That was one big clam that made it and nothing on earth could have.

Each gate is made of a single pearl. A pearl that big would be incredibly valuable.
