I have a George Forman Machine. What can I do to the steak to make it come out tender when I cook it on the George Forman? The last time I cooked steak on it, it tasted good but was kind of chewy. What should I do?

Maybe buy a better grade of meat. Or use a marinade with acid (like vinegar or lemon juice) in it. Or you could pound the meat slightly before cooking it.

There are several things you can do. If you want to make a cheap cut taste better, soak in it Tender Quick meat tenderizer for 24 hr. It's available at most grocery stores. The meat will stay much redder after it is fully cooked, so it's a little harder to tell when it's done. Or I like to marinade a lot of different kinds of meat in Italian dressing. Use some type of seasoning as I am grilling. Don't use too much tho - the Tender Quick is pretty salty! Get name brand dressing - not generic!! There is a big difference in flavor! Been there - done that! Or if you don't want to go to that much trouble - buy a more expensive cut of meat. It does make a difference!!
I have no experience with a Forman grill tho. Strictly charcoal for me!!

As most will say, the better cut of meat is your best bet. As far as ditching the machine, forget it. I have a George Foreman grill and when I cook steaks, chops, or something like that, I usually take trivets and prop under the front legs so that it is level and all the juices do not run off. That is where a lot of the flavor and tenderness goes because it becomes dry so quick.

Ditch the Gizmo!
Leaving Juices in Your Steak is an Integral part of the Flavor!
Those machine Drain the Juices!!

My Method is to Marinade your Steak (up to 12 Hours before cooking in the refrigerator before cooking)

Put into Seal able container the following:A Bottle of Beer!!(Guinness,Corona, Mikey's ,3X's-Or what your favorite is!) Worcester Sauce(Generous helping),Some White wine Vinegar,Splash of Tabasco Salt and Pepper.
And if you have some - a Good Helping of A-1 Steak sauce.

Turn the Steak as often as you can to allow the mixture to infuse into the meat!

Then when Cooking brush the remainder of the Mixture over the Steak!
Serve medium and I guarantee you will Love it!!

Use a tendering hammer, they have like tiny triangular spikes all over, or gently hit it with a rolling pin.
Also the type of steak and country of origin can make the meat chewier, for example irish beef is excellent and hardly chewy. Also try not cooking it for soo long on George

You need to get a better cut of beef - usually a rib eye or short rib is most tender. Also, I have found that George Foreman grills are really bad for cooking beef because you lose so much moisture. Invest in a good quality grill, which doesn't have the tilt. I have one that still drains excess fat, but it's not tilted so it keeps the moisure and liquids in. Also, it's a lot better to cook steak in a nice, hot pan.

There are several ways to do this. First buy the best cut of meat you can afford. Usually the pricier the cut the more tender it will be. You can also marinate it for a day or so or, you can get a tenderizing hammer to help tenderize the cut. Also, go to the store and buy Adolph's Meat Tenderizer. It works fast and is completely natural because it uses an enzyme from the fruit of the papaya to break down the meat fiber. It works fast and is great and is your easiest and cheapest tenderizing solution for those tough cuts of meat.

Dont cook it so long, and quality counts too. A cheap steak isnt a good piece of meat. To get a tender steak fork out a couple more bucks and you'll have no complaints.

Personally, I wouldnt could steak on one of those, but........ a few splashes of vinegar or meat tenderizer might work. Use a Ribeye steak, it is very hard to not cook that up tender.
Good luck.
If you want to cook your steak inside, the best way is on a pan, melt butter til very hot, sear on both sides. It tastes great for an indoor steak!

marinate it, but don't forget to slice the steak a few times on each side so the marinade can seep in. you want to cut one sided with horizontal slices and the other with vertical. use a can of beer in your marinade it makes it much juicier. you can't taste the beer it will cook all the alcohol out of it. well good luck.
