Allow personal freedom to be taken away in order to bring out National ID cards with the excuse that it would curb illegal immigration. What happens when National ID is brought out and it shows illegal immigration is still a problem? Silence the media? Change your mind? Who realizes that once National ID is enforced personal freedom is limited?
Sheep and general cattle, please do not answer this question.

Let's have the border fence, and ICE on the job for about 2 years, and look hard at the whole business again. But, give enforcement 2 years to work. The House has signed off on the border fence, the Senate is working on it, it's not the full distance, it's only 700 miles, but it'll be a good start...and there's the US/Canada border, too.

Back in 1900, when there was 1/6th the people there are in the world today, we could get by with the open borders thing. This is the 21st century. 6 billion people won't fit in the United States.
Even if they did, we'd be broke. Support immigration enforcement, and national reforms where the poverty is worst.

Support the US Border Patrol!

I don't see how a national ID card would take away personal freedom. I have a passport, driver's license and social security card and none of them curb my personal freedom at all. Actually, it would be kind of nice if they could be combined into one, but that's off topic.

I also don't see what a national ID card would do curb illegal immigration, either.

Is your personal freedom taken away by your photo ID of your drivers licenses? No so it wont be by a National ID card which I support and I am neither a cow or a sheep.
I am a realist ,and I see the magnitude of the problem, you only see your own ideas.

What are you talking about? What "personal freedom" will be limited by keeping a card in the pocket. You already carry you driver's license there. So, it'll be just one more. So what, that it'll be federal? We have social security numbers, most of us have passports... Your identity is ALREADY KNOWN to the grovernment.
Simply put, there is nothing limiting your freedom in carrying an id card whatsoever.

But, when I listen to the leftists in the USA they all say we should be more like France and Europe and they have a national type ID system. Hell, if you go to France to live they make you submit fingerprints and everything. IMHO we should do that here in the USA.

I think your being over paranoid on this one. Do your current ID's curb your personal freedom?
