Think about this, remember, there are no scriptures in the bible whatsoever substantiating this pagan common day teaching?

Hell does NOT go on foerver. The people in Hell will be destroyed. Do I believe in the Lake of Fire? yes. Do I believe the wicked will be punished? Yes, but they will not be punished for the ceaseless ages of eternity as most people believe, becuase that is not Biblical.

What does God say "the wages of sin is DEATH", not eternal life in the fire.

For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son theat whosoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16

What is the definition of perish
1)to become destroyed or ruined : cease to exist

Who gets eternal life? the people who believe in Jesus

"Behold, they shall be as stubble; the fire shall burn them; they shall not deliver themselves from the power of the flame: there shall not be a coal to warm at, nor fire to sit before it." Isaiah 47:14

Rather fear him which is able to DESTROY both soul and body in hell.Matthew 10:28

If God wants to destroy sin then wouldn't eternal life in the fire make sin ... eternal

people say the fire is eternal so sinners burn forever but read the book of Jude

"In a similar way, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion. They serve as an example of those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire." Jude 7

is Sodom and Gomorrah still burning? No but but the EFFECTS of the fire are eternal

another verse people say is hell fire is unquenchable but what does the Bible say about unquenchable fire.

"But if you do not obey me to keep the Sabbath day holy by not carrying any load as you come through the gates of Jerusalem on the Sabbath day, then I will kindle an UNQUENCHABLE fire in the gates of Jerusalem that will consume her fortresses.' "
Jeremiah 17:27

"And they burnt the house of God, and brake down the wall of Jerusalem, and burnt all the palaces thereof with fire, and destroyed all the goodly vessels thereof. And them that had escaped from the sword carried he away to Babylon; where they were servants to him and his sons until the reign of the kingdom of Persia: To fulfill the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah, until the land had enjoyed her sabbaths: for as long as she lay desolate she kept sabbath, to fulfill threescore and ten years. "
2 Chronicles 36:19-21

The fire in Jerusalem was unquenchable yet the fire eventually went out. Hell fire is unquenchable because it burns until there is nothing else to burn.

What does the Bible say about hell

"When the wicked spring as the grass, and when all the workers of iniquity do flourish; it is that they shall be destroyed for ever" (Ps. 92:7). wicked->destroyed

"The LORD preserveth all them that love him: but all the wicked will he destroy" (Ps. 145:20). wicked->destroyed

"I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire" (Ezek. 28:16). Satan->destroyed

"Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat" (Mat. 7:13) wicked->destroyed

"Thou hast defiled thy sanctuaries by the multitude of thine iniquities, by the iniquity of thy traffick; therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it shall devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee" (Ezek. 28:16, 18). Satan->Ashes

"pagan common day teaching?"

You have GOT to be kidding me, right?! No pagan pantheon from any pagan culture has ever attested that there is a hell or that this place is everlasting or painful. There is a "Hades" in the ancient Greek pantheon - which speaks to both the deity and the place - but Hades the place is not evil nor is it painful.

It is always astonishing to me what people think and believe about other cultures and religious/spiritual paths.

Nnnnno, most Pagan religions lack a hell and we don't believe in any kind of Satan-esque figure. In Greek mythology, Hades was where the dead went. There was no alternative, but it wasn't some painful, bad place to go.

Judeo-Christianity is the only religion I can think of where there's a general place of torture for lots of people. The only instances of everlasting torture in Greek mythology was when the gods were personally pissed off at some guy and set him up with it individually (Sisyphus, who even in his punishment claims victory because he retains the ability to think for himself as the rock rolls down the hill, and that guy who got his innards continually eaten by buzzards, too).

I don't believe in Hell. It's a Christian-only thing.

Yes, and so does the Bible. Read these scriptures for confirmation:

Mark 9 :43 through 48

Revelation 20:10

There are other places in the Bible, which also mention Hell, but I encourage you to get a KJV Bible and read them for yourself.

What Bible are you searching? There are numerous times Hell is mentioned in Scripture beginning in Deut. and continuing into the New Testament. The unquenchable fires of Hell is mentioned specifically in Mark 9:45, again 9:47 and in James and on into Revelation.

So yes, I don't like it, but I believe it.

I don't believe in everlasting anything. If everything doesn't just come to an end when we die, the only scenario that makes sense to me is reincarnation. It seems like our "soul" (or whatever you want to call it) would have to keep exploring new worlds, new challenges, new opportunities... not just stay in one place and do one thing forever. I mean, eternity is a long time. Having to spend an eternity ANYWHERE could be considered painful after a while, even when it's paradise.

i believe there is a lake of fire where all who have not been washed clean by jesus' blood will go along withe the devil and his workers, and yes it will be everlasting and painful and there are scriptures to support this: luke ch 16 v 19 - 31 revelation ch 20 v 10 - 15 are just two examples.

Yes unfortunately it exists. If you believe in God or not - I think this live is there to evolve to a certain level spiritually and this growth is only possible in this life. The only thing God has given you autonomy on is your thinking. This means on the one hand that your chances of growth are virtually unlimited, on the other hand it also means you are solely responsible for yourself and no God will be able to change that. If you don't get to that level of maturity and fulfillment your soul will suffer for ever trying to control that past mistake.

Painful but not in a Dante-esque sense...not physical pain but torment of those who have lived badly, did not take advantage of Christ's atonement through repentance, and have basically screwed up their chance for an eternity of happiness with their families. That would be Hell for me.

Remember, God loves his children, even the bad ones.

I find it interesting that this god is so vain and vindictive that if you do not stroke it's ego by worshiping it in a highly proscribed manner, it sends you to an eternity of suffering in the fires of Hell. This sounds like a highly disturbed creature that is hardly worthy of respect, let alone worship.

The only Hell I believe in is a small town in Michigan, just west of Pinckney.
