Anybody else new at this "crab" eating thing-Ewww!?

I moved to Maryland from Seattle in May and my entire family eats Maryland Steamed crabs at least twice a week-they are tasty but what is all of that yellow stuff in there?

you can eat everything in the crab except the dead man's fingers which are the lungs. I live in MA but am from MD and I love picking crabs. I do not eat the yellow stuff but some people love it. I miss crabs with the spicy seasoning. I could go for that right now with a cold beer!!! If don't want to pick the crabs get crabcakes from this place. They are the best, jumbo lump meat inside their crabcakes.!!! I bring some home everytime I visit. It's a sub shop but they do make the best crabcakes I have ever had.

Seriously, crabs are something of a MD tradition, and there are even classes on how to eat them. MY wife doesn't eat the claws, so I wind up cleaning all of them for her. MY dad is the champ, because no matter how much Old Bay or seasoning is on them, he manages to keep his hands clean while he picks a crab. He is like an artists about it.

If you don't like the hassle of cleaning them, be sure to try a crabcake (I prefer broiled as opposed to fried) or Chicken Chesapeake, which is a boneless chicken breats stuffed with lump crabmeat and cheese.

It's the crabs insides. Some people in Maryland (I live here) really like that stuff. I think it's nasty and prefer to wash my crabs out with water before I start picking them apart.
