Took much iron in the diet or intestinal infection. Increase fluid intake. Give warm sugar water. Massage the abdomen. Contact the Doc for a suppository if need be. Manually burp. Lift the legs up as knee to chest to relieve flatuence.

when my son was a baby i had the same problem.i suggest you take an ear bud with a dab of vaseline, push the tip gently into the anus ,not right inside just so half the cotton part is inserted, she will instantly want to poo.it does help and many of my friends did the same for their babies.it does not hurt as you wont be putting the whole cotton tip inside ,good luck.from mikhal in israel.

Well, if she's not you're baby then I'm not sure if you're the right person to be asking. I would get the baby's parent(s) to take the baby to their local GP if the problems are bad. Alternatively, get them to speak to their Health Visitor about it. Maybe just a change of milk formula or food is all thats required.

sounds strange but it worked my my friends baby, an ounce of fresh orange diluted to 8 ouces with cool boiled water or go to the doctor for a baby laxitive, i hate seeing babys in this much pain because the poor mites dont have a clue why they are hurting

Make sure she takes in plenty of fluid through her milk. Also, if she's started weaning, get her started on fresh fruit and veg. We found that fruit like pear with the skin on (make sure you scrub the skin first), steamed soft and blended worked wonders for our son when he was constipated.

Some food may actually make constipation worse. For us, we found these to be baby rice and bananas. Find out what it is and avoid it as much as possible.

Ask you friend to speak to her GP or health visitor.

Ooops! For some reason I read 4 weeks as 4 months. Geez!

well if she is burping alot it might just be gas i would try first wetting my finger with water and dipping it in baking soda that would get the gas off of her stomach. but if she is having problems with a bowel movement i would give her clear karo syrup old remedy but it works within 45 min.

when my son was about a month old, he had the same trouble and we were advised to use half a teaspoon of pure orange juice (plastic medicine sort, sterilised of course). It really did the trick. Good luck.

A little tiny bit of fresh orange juice, either a spoonful, or diluted in a bottle of cooled boiled water.
