TRUE Wieners (Vienas) contain nothing but Beef.
Franks (or frankfurters) contain beef & chicken (or fowl)
& / or pork.

Honestly, I thinks franks are made of distinguishable meats and weiners are made of very processed meats that no one could tell the difference between if they had to.

It may have been the difference in origin that created the names, but in America, I think that difference in ingredients is what has come to be the difference. I never see "turkey weiners" or "beef weiners" in the store. But I do see the distinction between meats on the franks' packages.

Frank is a Frankfurter, it comes from Frankfurt, and a Wiener comes from Wien (Vienna) if you actually get the German & Austrian varieties they do actually taste different, and being in Germany I can do that :) and the Berliner is more accurately a Jam Donut

Weiner is named for Vienna (Wein in the local language). Frankfurter is named for Frankfurt, in Germany. Hamburger is named for Hamburg.

When John F. Kennedy said, "I am a Berliner" he was calling himself a fruit-filled pastry.

Frank is the name of the man. Weiner is the name of his manhood. Really, they are both the same.
