The act of prophesying is biblical (I Cor. 14:31; I Thess. 5:20). But this does not mean that every prophecy is biblical (I John 4:1-2). We test prophecy by God's Word. If someone prophesied over me to divorce my wife and become a missionary, I would know this is false because the bible says God hates divorce. Secondly, if it is a predictive prophecy, we can know if it's from God by whether or not it comes to pass (Deut. 18:22). Finally, a prophecy from the Lord should not contradict something that God has already put in your heart. For example if God has placed in your heart to be a teacher, then I wouldn't pay too much attention to someone who told me to become a doctor. But if I had been praying for God to guide me in my career, and a pastor told me what he told you, then I'd probably pray about it and continue to inquire.

God truly has a purpose in life for all of us. But Prophets usually told of future events in the Bible. Note future events not fortunes. Some fortune tellers disquises themselfs as prophets. Sure some to come to pass, how ever when a true prophet tells of a future event, it comes true to the letter each and every time.

I think this is one of those times when things turned out close to the way the person said, but probably not 100% the way. By the way we don't do the healing or the blessing that is God's job. He uses us to carry out his plan. Therefore if your sister recovered from an illness it is not from something you did, but what God wanted done.

Who cares?

The Bible is a fiction. Prophesy is a con. Gods don't exist.

Instead of just blindly following some yahoo with an old book, try thinking for yourself. You know your aptitudes much better than some preacher with an over-active imagination.

Yes if God told him to tell you, its ok. Some have the gift of prophesy, but I would want one or two conformations, before I enrolled in medical school.

God will give spiritual gifts to who he pleases. Not all will be Teachers, or Prophets, or Healers, or whatever...I am a Christian and I am very skeptical when it comes to the "Prophet around ever corner" theory. But if you saw the results come to pass, then PRAISE GOD...
