Honey? Maybe she is just going to be petite. I will say this though, make sure you are serving her foods she likes to eat. None of this crud about eating whatever I put in front of you stuff, know what I mean. I say don't worry because I was only 54 pounds at the age of 12 but I am very petite. Are you petitie? How big was she at birth? Take those facts into consideration and decide, is she malnourished (because toddlers are incredibly picky) or failing to thrive because of an underlying condition you may not be aware of? Tell her pediatirican your concerns and don't let them poo poo your concerns. Stick with it. Good luck Mommy and thank you so much for caring enough to ask on here. Get her to the pediatrician as soon as you can. Okay? Honestly, I wouldn't worry too much because my little girls were 5 years old and still not 40 pounds. They are beautiful, petitie teenagers today, not thin, just petitie! And lovely, of course. Good luck Mommy. :)

Actually, at 23 pounds she is fine. My son was a preemie and only 2 Lbs, 15 oz when he was born and he is now 2 and almost 24 pounds, and his doctor said that he is healthy. Just make sure she eats her fruit and veggies and takes a vitamin daily. My son is VERY active. It is better to have a child on the lighter end of the scale than to have them be overweight. If she is active she is just burning up calories.

As long as she is eating well(as well as a 2 yr old will) then don't do anything! My oldest was/is like that. She was barely 22 lbs at 2 & at 4 is only 32lbs. She is fine. Makes getting clothes a bit challenging but that's not a big deal. Maybe she is just meant to be petite, although she doesn't sound very small. My youngest is 2 1/2 & only weighs 26 lbs & appears to be average for her age.(if you looka t her with others her age.) Don't worry about it. She'll be fine.

First of all, don't worry so much about her weight. My son is 3 and only weighs 27 pounds. (His 19 month old brother weighs 28 lbs). Both of my boys are healthy and have grown steadily since birth, just one at a much slower rate. My 3 year old eats as much healthy food as I can get in him and we offer him a milkshake made with icemilk and pedisure on a regular basis. If your child's overall health is good and she shows steady weight gain (even if it is not very much weight gain) over time, then try not to worry. You should discuss this with her peditrician as well. Good Luck!

Continue to provide her with a very healthy diet and plenty of exercise. Children do not need to weigh more to be healthy. Peanut butter on toast, eggs, lots of grains, vegetables, fruits. Stay away from sugars (juice, candy, etc).

If you are really concerned discuss this with your childs pediatrician.

Best wishes for you and your healthy, happy daughter!

Keep her eating healthy food. Smaller meals more often and get her some pedia sure shakes. My son was the same- he was super tall but very thin. The doctor told us to buy the ensure shakes- generic . There apparently isn't a big difference and they are way cheaper. Good Luck.

My son is small also, 27 pounds @ the age of three! I took him to the doctor and they said he's fine. They recommended PEDASURE milk drinks for some added protein. Unless she starts to lose weight she will be fine. Was she breast fed? Breast feeding is not as common as it once was. Baby formula tends to make children have higher weight gains.

Don't worry about it. If she is healthy she is fine.
I have an 11 year old at 60 pounds and 4'2". She fits into a 9 year old's clothes.
We call her the skinny Minni with the tiny hiney. (that might not be spelled right but you get the gist).

you should not try to make your daughter gain weight

the healthy recommended weight for a 2 yearold girl is 26 lbs

weight as low as 19 lbs would be considered healthy

My daughter is the same. It's not a concern right now, the doctor only said to keep her on whole milk still. It's not surprising, because I am small, and always was as a child.
