And, what breeds have the least amount of doggie odor?
I had a Cocker spaniel, he was the cutest thing but he STUNK no matter now many baths we gave him. Now, I am thinking of getting another dog.

All dogs have a "doggie odor".....purebreds, Heinz 57s, mutts, mongrels, curs and designer dogs...they all smell like dogs. Let them get wet or hot and the odor intensifies. When the cool down or dry, the odor becomes less noticeable. When they are nervous, the "doggie odor" is more noticeable.
Some dogs smell worse than others because of medical conditions....dental disease, demodectic mange, ear infections, open pyometra.....impacted anal glands....hot spots...etc.
A dog with an open wound with maggots in it will trigger my gag reflex and a dog that is matted and dirty with dingle berries hanging from his butt is nauseating. There are just different degrees of smell....that range from mild to rank.
There is no such canine that is odor free, hypoallergenic, non-shedding breed. They are all going to shed, smell and in sensitive individuals cause allergic reactions.
I will say this; probably the larger the dog the more odor emanates from it. That is like comparing a little 1 inch turd pooped by a Chihuahua to an entire load dumped by a Great Dane....there is just more to smell!
I personally don't find "doggie odor" offensive unless it is down right over powering! As a vet tech/pet sitter and a three dog owner, I probably smell like a dog most of the time myself! :)
If you want a dog that does not smell....by a stuffed dog.

I would advise against an English Bull Dog no matter how many times you give the little critters a bath they smell bad... but it can also be the brand of dog food IAMS I think thats how you spell it anyway it makes doggy poo smell even worse like that needs to smell any worse & if they pee pee on your grass .. your grass will die in that certain spot ,,, dont know why but it will... they are great dogs incase an English Bulldog lover reads this , they are pretty & protective but they smell pretty bad

I have 3 dogs. A golden, a basset and a terrier mix. The basset is by far the stinkiest of the 3. She gets baths and still smells bad. I use Natures miracle on her and that helps some and making sure she is very dry with a couple of towels. But she still stinks lol

It seems to vary by dog rather than by breed. But the long-haired breeds seem to have the worst odor.
Another thing you might want to look at for controlling the odor is the dog food. Some foods seem to be worse about making odor than others.

@ AC ,
i have a Buldog and she don't smell bad . Maybe you a right and it is because of the food . BTW you should'nt bath your dog often .
I also think like AC it has something to do with the food cause i also know some longhaired breeds (from friends ) that don't smell bad

No not all short haired dogs smell better than long haired ones.
I think it depends on how often the dog is bathed & groomed, its environment & believe it or not....its age.
Some of the smelliest dogs I have ever encountered have been elderly dogs. Some of them end up with skin conditions which tend to make the smell worse!

Cocker spaniels are notorious for a host of conditions that make them smell bad. Ear infections and yeast infections in the skin are often the culprit. Bathing your dog too much can also make the smell worse.

Most of the hounds breeds tend to have a specific odor that can get overwhelming, especially Bassets and Bloodhounds. I don't know why, but it has something to do with their bloodlines.
