Why do you care?. Are you planning on stealing an infant or blowing the place up..... What are your intentions?.

another answer could be-- the nurses are with the babies and the support staff are at the ready when needed.

Some NICU's are very, very possessive-- they have tight rules and keep it that way. Every baby in that unit is at risk-- at risk of things you have no idea is even a risk-- a simple answer for why the washing up ( and do a good job!!) before the door is opened-- for wearing gowns/gloves/hair caps-- for the limits of time to visit. After the staff are assured you are following the rules-- they might -- MIGHT relax some-- but don't forget-- there are OTHER babies in that unit.........

Need more info really . Why did the nursing station look dirty or unorganized? If so you should report it to the hospital administrator . That is unacceptable . Nurses are supposed to be clean orderly ppl and they are held to high standards at hospitals as well as nursing homes. i know cause i work in a nursing home and we are inspected every 3 weeks and everything is kept clean and disinfected. I have to wear scrubs and tennis shoes(white). We cannot wear anything else because we must look professional and act accordingly. So I hope this answers your question. Good Luck.
