"It is apointed unto man once to die, and then the judgement ? My only explination is that death only comes when the silver cord (if youre familiar with it) of the soul breaks. Maybe the soul of the baby only left the body for a period of time, and was ready to come back to life. Or maybe people who went into Hades could be brought forth by the Lord, and only after Jesus broke the doors of death were the souls condamned to "die only once".

It is appointed unto man once to die, and then the Judgment.
That means there is no reincarnation. No multiple lives.
The child's spirit left his body, but it returned to the same body, and continued its life.
Same for Lazarus, the widows son, etc.

The Scripture you mean is 1 Kings 17:22--" The LORD heard Elijah's cry, and the boy's life returned to him, and he lived. (NIV)
The dead can be brought back to life and resurrected from hell, which is where everyone who dies goes to. Hell is only where the dead are buried. Jesus has the keys to hell and will open it for all those sleeping in death who deserve a resurrection. The Bible says the just and the unjust will be brought back to life here on earth.
REVELATION 1:18--" am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death."
ACTS 24:15--"And have hope toward God, which they themselves also allow, that there shall be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and unjust."
Hell will be destoyed forever as the Bible states at Revelation 20:13-14--"And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
The second death is symbolic for total destruction.
Also the soul is a person and can die. It is not immortal
EZEKIEL 18:20--"The soul who sins shall die. The son shall not bear the guilt of the father, nor the father bear the guilt of the son. The righteousness of the righteous shall be upon himself, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon himself.
Genesis 2:7--"And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. (Adam became a soul or person)

JWs coach what the Bible says some soul. Genesis 2:7 shows what makes up a soul. The dirt of the floor and the breath of life. That makes a living soul, no longer something separate. further, the soul isn't immortal. Ezekiel 18:4 says "the soul it incredibly is sinning, it itself will die." All have sinned so all souls die as Romans 5:12 says. by way of sin of our parent, Adam, who previous on his sin to everybody. Psalms 146:4 shows there's a distinction between soul and spirit. The rigidity that activates a soul is the spirit or life rigidity from God. It returns to God after the loss of life of a soul.(Eccles. 12:7) Leviticus 24:18 factors out animals have souls besides. nevertheless all souls die, they are in a position to be resurrected by making use of the flexibility of Jehovah and/or Jesus. (John 11:25) The resurrection of Jesus is maximum necessary for a reason no longer regularly seen. while Jehovah introduced His Son decrease back to life as a spirit creature, He restored all Jesus' memories from the endless eons of his prehuman life! this provides us large wish. What makes us ourselves is our memories. That this form of mass of those of Christ's would desire to be restored ability it would be a techniques much less confusing to restoration our little 70 years or so memories. we are able to be us back.

1 Kings 17:22
And the LORD heard the voice of Elijah; and the soul of the child came into him again, and he revived.
EZE 18:4 Spirit returns to God at death
Eccl 12:6-7 (silver cord breaks- spirit returns to God)
We must remember that with God all things are possble.
And for the glory of God!
What returns to God can be returned:
Born again believers or sinners spirits return to God.
Saved spirits shall return with him at second coming-Sinners spirit are judged to hell.
Its the spirit that goes to God.
God says that his word does not come back void-empty.
Jesus raised Jarius daughter and Lazarus from the dead.
Elisha was responsible for two dead men rising.
Paul raised one and so did Peter (Dorcas)
How God's uses his GLORY is beyond our limited scope of thought.
Dead is dead. God had to send the spirit and LIFE back into those bodies.
Jesus was dead- Bible states that both God and the Holy Spirit restored-resurrected Jesus.
Spirit does not die. So God returned it to a lifeless body (restored life) for his purpose. Why- maybe to show the almighty power of GOD?

Yes it is appointed once for man to die. We must all face judgment once we die to account for our actions during our life time. Yet without reading the rest of the context I could not acurately give you the answer that would be suited to what you are looking for.

The Lord can do anything. Look at Lazarus- he was brought back to life. And that was before Jesus descended into hell.
I think sometimes, we tend to put God in to a box, but He is much, much more & grander than anything or anyone we can think of.

The scripture was not what you were looking for. It is appointed unto man once to die then the judgment. I believe this means that there is an appointed time for each of us to die. God can change His mind through our prayers. One man was told he was going to die and he ask the prophet to pray to God not to take his life, God gave him another 15 years, I cant remember his name.
