Have you ever really discussed religion with your son? On a serious level?
Start with ancient mythology, then make him try to explain why Christianity is different. From what you're saying, it sounds like he's been raised outside the church, so he should have a rationalist standpoint on this and recognize it.
Personally, I don't think anything's necessarily wrong with attending services for social reasons *if you're not misleading anyone* by so doing.
If he really wants the social aspects, but is non-theist, there are denominations that are compatible, like the UUs and some liberal Quaker denominations.

You are a sad individual. If your son wants to go to church you do not want him there. I would guess at 16 he has heard allthe negatives about God he needs to from you that now he can actually make up his own mind about the truth of God. What is it going tomake you look bad because he becomes a christian. You make yourself look bad enough using a picture of MrT. when he has stated that people that dont read the bible are fools. He belives and yet you use his picture against christians. You are a hypocrite. Why dont you grow up your son has despite you.

Thank God your son is going to church and learning about Christ!!!! Maybe he won't turn out to be a bigot like his father. Your son has free will. Even if you can prevent him from going to church now, he can still choose to follow Christ. In a couple of years he'll be free to attend church if he chooses and you won't be able to stop him. I pray that you will follow the example your son is setting. God bless!

SO what if he is converted? HE will hopefully become not a liar, nor a thief, he will adapt to some type of morals, so maybe you won't have to worry about him gettings AIDS...He will attempt to honor his Parents..I mean even if it was all wrong, would that be such a bad thing???????

Tell him that you can see that he's exploring his spiritual side and try to show him other options and different religions. Introducing him to some young people his age, members of other faiths (exceptionally girls) would probably help your case and make him look into subject more open-minded .

Give him balanced literature to examine to balance out the hype he hears at church. BTW children learn more from example than from words....try being an example of good, without religion.

sorry Jibba if your son belongs to Jesus you cannot stop him. If you kill him thinking that will stop him it will only get him into the arms of the only true love sooner. Let it go. try Jesus for yourself. He is after you, i can feel it. may you submit soon. you will not regret it; it will be the best thing that happened to you when you find the one true love

Brainwash him with something of your own.
Note, if you are hostile towards the faith with him, he very well could convert. I've seen it many times.

This is going to be pretty difficult since it appears that you have also been brainwashed into not believing
