The 'Original Sin' was the eating of the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. Supposedly it gave Adam & Eve free will. If that is a sin then the entire human race is going to Hell.
Fortunately, the book of Genesis is not a factual account of ancient life. It is merely the Christian/Jewish Life Origin story. All religions have them, this one is just widely half-accepted because of the Christianity boom about 1500 years ago and also because the USA was founded by Christians.

After Adam and Eve sinned they were banished from the Garden of Eden and had to live by the sweat of their brow. In the old testament god did speak to His prophets and they relayed the message to the masses. The people had to sacrifice animals to move their sins forward another year. After Jesus came to the earth as the perfect sacrifice, men no longer had to sacrifice animals, if they accepted Jesus as their savior, they were saved.

Notice how many of the answers don't make logical sense. Very good question, and I was never able to find an answer in all my years of research. This led me to believe that "original sin" was false teaching. It is contradicted several times in the Bible. Can't quote right now, but I saw a question about it on here just today.

We are born of the flesh, so we have inherited our first parents (Ada and Eve) sin. We of course then add are own sins to our guilt.
Until Jesus, a person could only have their judgment of sin put off, it could not be forgiven until Jesus paid for it all.

The original sin was pride. Jesus came to die in order to assimilate the non Jew into God's grace, to forgive man for his sins, especially the one sin all men are born into, pride.

And just how would the death of another human being (Jesus) affect the nature of another human being? Life is not about miracles, it is about living to the best of our own abilities and talents.
