I want to buy a pumpkin but don't want it to be rotten before Halloween. Can I get one now? What if I carve it, will it rot sooner?

It depends on the thickness of the pumpkin and the weather. Hotter weather = a droopy wilted pumpkin. I try to carve only a few days befor haloween. Tip: use vasoleen to seal the cut areas. It will keep moisture in and keep the pumpkin from wilting.

Now is way too early, at most once carved it will last just a few days. Uncarved will last maybe two weeks. I would wait a couple weeks till Halloween to buy a pumpkin. Have fun!

Yes, if you carve your pumpkin now, it will rot quicker--due to having the air exposed to the inner pumpkin. Also, insects & bacteria can get inside the punkin and create the rotting stage to quicken. The best thing to do is to just keep your pumkin outside (i.e. on the front porch or in the backyard [in case you are afraid of the punkin being smashed by some punk]). We always get a pumkin early, and it never rotted.

Carving a pumpkin will make it go bad much, much faster than leaving it uncarved. I also wouldn't buy one yet, if I were you. Wait a week or two.
