write down what you are thinking. make it a daily routine. spend at least an hour a day trying to figure out who you are, what you afraid of, what you are anxious. Once you get a better understanding of who you are...and why you are like that your mind would be at peace with itself and you can sleep easier and better.

No, no ,no, avoid booze at all costs. It may help you initially to fall asleep (pass out), but it supresses REM sleep. The best bet is aerobic exercise, yoga, or relaxation therapy. Also you can try Valerian, an herbal remedy or Rozerem (prescription only). Avoid other sleep agents like Xanax, Valium or Ativan as they are highly addicting and give you poor quality sleep with a bad hangover effect in the morning. Also, you should have a check up with your health care provider to rule out organic causes of insomnia. Good Luck!

Well.....I'm very good at getting it.............but I suppose that isn't what you mean. .......
I find I sleep better when I've done everything in moderation all day.
I have got up early (ish)........been out and about in some fresh air..................not eaten too much....certainly not had much alcohol......and gone to sleep in a cool, quiet, dark room, with a window open. A couple of purring cats on the bed help as well, but you'll have to find your own. Mine are busy.....
I hope you find a cure. Insomnia is miserable.

If you don't have a set schedule for when you have to get up... try staying up very late (until you're exhausted) and the next night go to sleep about a half an hour to an hour earlier than that, etc. until you are on the schedule you want to be on.
You could also try over-the-counter sleep aids for a week to get your body on schedule with what you want, and quit taking it after that.

try taking a bath with lavender scented oils. also use lavander mist to spray on your neck and chest so you can breath it in. Get some lavander candles and use in your room a couple of hours before you go to bed. I was having lots of trouble sleeping and used these to help me soothe myself into a sleep. They worked. and it smells nice too. Try it , it just might be what your body needs.I forgot to mention , when you do go to bed, make sure you concentrate on something or somewhere you'd like to go. I for example picture myself on an island and imagine the waters and breezes. Peace and love your way.

forget the booze answers....liquor can actually cause more insomnia....I work nights and have to sleep days so sometimes it is hard to sleep. I take Benadryl...it says on the box it causes drowsiness and it does. Give it a try.

Melatonin. Cheap, natural, safe and a good anti-oxidant. Take one before bed and turn out the light. It works in the dark.

Strenuous exercise during the day. Belly breathing. The type of breathing you would do in a yoga class.
