That is my strategy. You need to have several different color highlights in there, the lightest being almost platinum, for it to blend well.

Either highlighting your hair or coloring it will help to cover those gray streaks that drive us crazy at times! Usually if you choose a lighter color will help you looking younger also. Hope this helps you :-)

no it will not "cover" your gray streaks. highlighting can be done to help give more of a blending look. the only way to "cover" your gray streaks is to use an all over permanent color.

Highlights will not necessarily cover the gray. In order to cover gray/silver you will need to deposit color not lift it out. It will blend in with the gray however, I would recommend doing low and hilights - low lights with a demipermanent darker shade (not a skunk looking color) but depending on your natural level, a couple shades darker. Blends really nice and will help cover/blend the gray so it is not so noticable AND won't look so harsh when roots begin to show.

If you have alot of gray hair, highlights will only make it look worse. I would recommend using a color that matches your original color and mix it with either a bronze or ashe tint of the same color. That will make your hair look natural, shiney, and healthy. Good luck.
