I have several bad teeth. Some broken off at the gum line. I have bad ones on both sides on the bottom. Usually, I will get a mild to moderate tooth ache before the swelling begins. However, once the swelling begins usually where the gums end at the inside of your cheek, I have no pain. The toothache will subside and the swelling is unreal. Some pressure goes along with this too. But agian no pain. I will take antibiotics usually for a week or so and it will go away only to return again. I have no insurance. I am concerned however that if I continue to let it go what could happen.

Blood poisoning and death!

The bacteria from the abscess can spread into your blood stream and then you will really be in a world of hurt. You need to get your bad teeth fixed. Most communities offer some sort of low cost dental care for people who have no insurance. Or if there is a dental college nearby, some of their students will work on patients for free or very little cost as a part of their learning process. Don't worry, they are supervised.

An abscess is a tender, easily pressed mass generally surrounded by a colored area from pink to deep red. The middle of an abscess is full of pus and debris.

Painful and warm to touch, abscesses can show up any place on your body. The most common sites are in your armpits (axillae), areas around your anus and vagina (Bartholin gland abscess), the base of your spine (pilonidal abscess), around a tooth (dental abscess), and in your groin. Inflammation around a hair follicle can also lead to the formation of an abscess, which is called a boil (furuncle).

Unlike other infections, antibiotics alone will not cure an abscess. In general an abscess must open and drain in order for it to improve. Sometimes draining occurs on its own, but generally it must be opened by a doctor in a procedure called incision and drainage.

Fungal infections sometimes cause abscesses, while amoebae (single-celled protozoal parasites) are an important cause of liver abscesses.

The infection usually reaches an organ via the bloodstream or penetrates tissues under the skin via an infected wound or bite.

People with weakened immune systems may be more prone to abscesses or may have more severe ones.

Symptoms of Abscess
Abscesses tend to get worse as time goes on. Symptoms include tenderness or pain and the site of the abscess being warm to the touch. Symptoms of discomfort or pain depend mainly on the site of the abscess, though larger ones - since they are a source of infection within the body – can cause fever, chills, sweating, and malaise.

Abscesses close to the skin usually cause inflammation with redness, increased skin temperature and tenderness.

Tuberculous abscesses are the exception; hence their introduction as cold abscesses.

Call your doctor if you have a high fever, or if the abscess is larger than ½ inch across, is near your rectal area or groin, or if red streaks are radiating out from the abscess.

absess poison will spread through ur body killing u through time if untreated
good tip for getting rid of absesses is to mix equal parts of baking soda and salt in a bowl then dab a piece of wet cotton wool in it and put between tooth and gum. leave it in overnight, this will draw the infection out. spit it out dont swallow it. then rinse ur mouth out with warm salty water. the absess will keep coming back though so get ur teeth checked at the dentist

Well you can get a number of things including sepsis or the infection can spread to your brain (always bad). Check online for local dental schools or free dental clinics in your area.
