If the mucos is thick and sludgy, then drink plenty of water to thin it out. The other thing is to address when it's worse than other times. Is it worse when you eat bread - wheat, corn, oats, etc. It could be an allergic reaction, albeit mild, to some food. Is it clear, opague or discoloured? If it's clear or opague, it's not infected. If it's discoloured, it's infected and you should see a physician for an anti-biotic. I hesitate to recommend drugs for such a long term problem.

A decongestant helps. Antihistamines are good if it is due to allergies. But in the end if I get it at night I use Vick's vapo rub under my nose to dry up the drip.

CONSISTENTLY TAKE A SINGULAIR (GET YOUR DR. TO WRITE A PRESCRIPTION) EVERY NIGHT) YOU WILL NOT SEE RESULTS RIGHT AWAY BUT YOU HAVE TO TAKE EVERY NIGHT EVEN WHEN YOU DON'T HAVE SYMPTOMS FOR IT TO WORK.
