Islamic countries are the lowest in terms of human rights issues. A religion that holds the rights of the community over the rights of the individual. But are they willing to reform like other cultures with other majority religions have? no! It is repressive from the get go... Look at pakistan and India. India a hindu majority secular state and pakistan both achieved freedom at the same time. Pakistan is an islamic state with coup after coup run by dictators in the name of islam. The biggest breeding ground for terrorism! While the muslim population has grown in india the other religious populations have been drastically reduced in countries like pakistan and bangladesh. How is islam acceptable in modern human secular society with it's view of other faiths as infidels?

Methinks the leaders of Islam are "pointing the finger at themselves" as a violent religion . . . Perhaps the words of current Islamic leaders can help us determine what is the truth about Islam . . .

In Iran, supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei used the comments to call for protests against the United States. He argued that while the pope may have been deceived into making his remarks, the words give the West an "excuse for suppressing Muslims" by depicting them as terrorists. "Those who benefit from the pope's comments and drive their own arrogant policies should be targeted with attacks and protests," he said, referring to the United States.

(Hmmm. . . Let's see now . . . If someone "Depicts muslims as terrorists" then they should be "Targeted with attacks and protests." according to Ayatollah Ali Khamenei ~~~~ I think I get the picture.)

Al-Qaida in Iraq and its allies said Muslims would be victorious and addressed the pope as "the worshipper of the cross," saying "you and the West are doomed as you can see from the defeat in Iraq, Afghanistan, Chechnya and elsewhere. ... We will break up the cross, spill the liquor and impose the 'jizya' tax, then the only thing acceptable is a conversion (to Islam) or (being killed by) the sword."

(Hmmm . . . "Convert or get your head cut off with a sword" ~~~I think I get the picture.)

"You infidels and despots, we will continue our jihad (holy war) and never stop until God avails us to chop your necks and raise the fluttering banner of monotheism, when God's rule is established governing all people and nations," said the statement by the Mujahedeen Shura Council, an umbrella organization of Sunni Arab extremist groups in Iraq.

(Hmmm. . . "Infidels and despots will get their necks chopped" ~~~ Yes, I am sure I get the picture now. )

Or it might be that the comments of a man forced them to do it . . .

So far, protests over the pope's comments have been smaller. However, there has been some violence: Attackers hurled firebombs at seven churches in the West Bank and Gaza Strip over the weekend, and a nun was shot to death in Somalia.

(Hmmm, Where in the qu'ran does it say to shoot unarmed women if they are not muslim? ~~~ Yes, the picture is completely clear now.)

And who the hell told you that Islamic countries are ruled by Islamic laws?
They are ruled with laws imported from the west and the leaders in most of our countries are dictators who don't apply Islamic Shariia...In Pakistan for example the leaders are Muslims but did anyone of the m apply Sahriia? no..Musharaf took the country by the army's help and the people don't want him and he has been shutting Islamic schools in Pakistan since his being in the rule of Pakistan.
And in Iran I think everyone knows that Iran has become a strong country and the people have chosen this way of life their with democracy and that the government is chosen by the people and under the observation of the parlemant..however you disagree with them but since the Islamic revolution their and they country is getting stronger everyday unlike other Islamic countries wich are ruled by those weak presidents and kings.
The main cause for weakness of Musim countries is that they are not united with each other and having no cooperation in most fields.
And for human rights please refer to guantanamo and abughrieb and say hi to the western human rights.

So you think Islamic system is applied in Muslim's world today!? Muslims are under dictators control loyal to the west that they fight Islam and Muslims internally while the Western armies fight it externally. Muslims world unfortunately is still under western indirect colonization. If Muslims were free and Islamic system is applied the whole world is going to be a better place for every body.

Speak for the Indians.
Every country, of every persuasion has been guilty of using their neighbour's past sins to justify going to war with them, if their history is long enough.
You guys would be at loggerheads with Pakistan if it were the most democratic society on earth.

One, no one likes to admit they are wrong. And two, children have been saying "But he did it first" for as long as there have been children.
