I believe that Jesus always has been the part of The Creator Whom Has loved His creation so much, that He willed to die a human death for us so that we may have the right to call upon the Father. However make no mistake. Been the ultimate sacrifice which He is and was no one since, shall go to The Father except though Him Jesus. wether you choose to believe/discard or attack this statement that is your choice.
In addition, He was among the Three whom visited father Abraaham. This gives Him the right to say ..."forgive them Father for they do not know what they do..." unlike our many preachers from all denominations including the self proclaimed "doom sayers"...He Jesus, never spoke of Himself. He always spoke of The Father.

I think He would use a more modern term like, "Father, forgive them. They haven't got a clue."

That's very odd. How can a long-dead, decomposed or mythical non-historical person forgive at all?

I sure every time he sees some illiterate bible thumper yelling at someone, misquoting scripture and spreading hate and intolerance he regrets ever having come here.
