Perhaps you could try different questions with similar nicknames. d:c) It could be more useful to you.

Christ is foretold in the Old Testament. Jesus explains that He will arise in three days and that the account of Jonah was the sign for that. If other societies created myths based on the Jonah events, why should that be surprising?

One of the very oldest extant books, holy or secular, is Job. Job says that he knows his Redeemer lives and even though his body may be dead and decayed, still he will see Him with his own eyes. Other cutures can alter this account in many ways and similarities still be noticeable. Nothing shocking here.

The Bible affirms that humanity has a common ancestor. Evolution and genome research supports this. It is ridiculous to consider, based on current evolution theory, that humans evolved from lower primates in geographically disparate locations. We would not represent one species today, if that were the case. With geographically joined ancestors, who belong to the species homo sapiens sapiens, it is quite likely that certain stories would be held in common. Could these stories have been from creative human minds, or were they given to them by God and then altered in various subgroups over time?

There are many very reasonable scenarios where we could determine that the Jesus account is true despite any similarity with other accounts, even those that are popularly considered as false.

This is not the response of the churches. Just me.

I am not sure what myths you are referring to. If you mean the resurrection myth of other gods, the Resurrection of Jesus is actually quite different. The resurrection of old gods is related to the cycle of death and rebirth of the seasons. The resurrection happened at some unknown time in the distant past.
Contrasting the with Jesus, we see that the resurrection happened at a particular point in history and the apostles reported seeing the risen Christ. They were persecuted and killed for this belief, not the belief the Jesus was a great guy or had great ideas, but that he was risen.
Had Jesus not be risen, the church would not exist today. Why would first century Jews feel compelled to be missionaries to the known world? Think about it, have you ever heard of a Jewish person trying to convert someone? I haven't. Judaism does not stress proselytizing.

It was liberal Christian scholars who first addressed the issue.

Bottom line: the best historical scholarship shows that Jesus was a revolutionary, charismatic first-century Palestinian rabbi. Read Geza Vermes. Jesus was a Jew.

The idea of Jesus as the incarnate son of God was a mythical construct based on the various syncretistic Hellenistic and Near Eastern religions prevalent in the late antique world. Of course it resembles them -- it's simply another permutation of the same mythic ideas.

It's possible to continue to be a Christian while accepting these facts -- just not a fundamentalist. Independent thought and examination of empirically available evidence are the antidotes to fundamentalism, dogmatism, and intolerance.

Here's an answer for you that may be new?
Lucifer the only angel of God whom refused to bow and protect/serve God's most precious creation the human. Thefore banned and outcasted by the Heavens. However, ...he did ask permision and he received it...Lucifer is God's problem and He will deal to him what He wills when the proper time is here.
For those whom cannot wait for the Truth in faith, there is always lucifer to work on them and keep them company.

I think that comparing Jesus stories to myths is the same as comparing apples to apples. They are all myths. I am not (officially) doubting the Jesus stories, I am just saying that books that are written about him 100 to 200 years after his existence cannot be entirely factual. We cannot even get a network TV company to tell the accurate versions of 9/11 or any other recent historical event. They all must embellish the story for the story's sake. How can you expect these books to be any different?

The main message is that finding your true self and opening your Heart to find your Christ self will get you Home. This message has not been brought to us once, but many times and in many ways and God did know that He was gonna send Christ to make things right.

In the olden days people had a way to realize and some did, only the rest of us got themselves in deeper and deeper..

First rule of an honest question...admit your premise.

I have no idea what "similarities" exist between Jesus Christ and myth...Jesus of Nazareth has been confirmed by contemporary third party historical sources to have existed and lived during the time of Herod, Caiaphas and Pontius Pilate. There is plausible archeological evidence for His existence and life...

Where's the myth?

I think there have been a lot of previous mythological characters superimposed over the life of Christ. I believe Christ was a great prophet, and definitely sent by God, but I am not sure that he was the savior of all mankind and that all the details that bear striking resemblance to other religions are true.....

The Church just sweeps them under the rug -- it used to be easier when the Index Liborum was still enforceable.
