"go nite nite?" What the hell is that? There's part of your problem right there. You're not helping your child develop proper speaking habits by using these ridiculous terms. As far as bedtime is concerned, use your common sense. What time at night do they get crabby? Are they too tired in the morning? Adjust it accordingly and it will all work out. Kids may be kids, but they're not stupid. Talk to them like you would talk to a grown up and they will grow to be better adults.

Hopefully she'll develop better writing skills than her mother.

It depends on your lifestyle. My son is 3 and goes to bed around 9 or 9:30. He doesnt always have a nap and we are always up by 8:30 and he does fine. I let him stay awake so I can spened time reading or watching caillou or wonder pets that we recorded while we were gone. We both go to school so we are gone durning the day, that make a difference too. If she is in school that makes the day seem a little longer. Try getting her in bed at 8:00 read a book, or talk about the day, then at 8:30 turn the lights out. Try that for a week then adjust the time based on how she is reacting to the schedule and talk to her about it, my son will tell me if he is tired even though I can tell I like that he knows. If she tells you she is tired work from there, trust your instincts. GOOD LUCK.

that really depends on what time you wake her up in the am. mine sleeps 10-12 hrs at night regardless of whether she takes a nap during the day. daddy's home with her in the am cause he doesn't work til 1 pm and I don't get to see her until 5 when I get off work so I keep her up as late as I can to spend as much time w/ her as possible, which usually ends up being until 9-9:30 pm and she usually sleeps til 8-9 am. Sometimes if she didn't have a nap she'll knock out ~8:30. Just make sure she gets enough sleep, they still need 10+ hrs, so bedtime should depend on when she wakes up.

Hi my twins are nearly 5 and i also have a two and a half year old. they have always gone to bed about 7pm. the twins never used to wake until 7.30/8. but my toddler wakes from 6-7.30 am. Thing is all children are different. If he wakes early and you want him to sleep later try an earlier bedtime. Experiment and see what suits him best. But i would say it should be between 6-8pm. Although some children i know haven't needed that much sleep. You know your child best. trust your judgment.

Well if the child has a nap during the day and depending on how long the nap was and when it is taken I'd say no later than 8pm. Try giving the child a nap before lunch and dont let them sleep more than an hour. Then see what time the child starts to wear down or get cranky and adjust the bedtime accordingly. You know the child best .

I take my Daughter to Bed at 8pm and we do our nite time check list (teeth brushed, potty, hands washed, and pick up toys) and are in bed with our story by 8:30......By the way , "nite nite" is a great and playful way to communicate with your kid. Some parent aren't afraid to be sweet and playful with their child because of someones else's single minded thoughts on appropriate Child interaction.

the typical 3 year old needs 13 hours of sleep. Does he/she go to day care or take naps? If so subtract that amount from the total number and adjust. My son takes about a 2 hour nap at school and he wakes up at 6:30-7 in the morning, so he goes to bed around 8:30.

I have a soon to be 3 year old (November) and i found that with a short nap during the early afternoon, he is good to go to bed between 8:30 - 9:00pm ... he gets a good nights sleep, and usually wakes up at around 8:30 -9:30 am ....

remember every child is different,I think that if you do alot of activities during the day with your child then at bed time you are not going to have trouble putting your child to bed, but I think that the best time is 8:30 pm..... I have 2 kids 8 and 6 and they go to sleep at 9 pm, I know that's alittle bit late but as long I dont have any problems when they get up for school the next day,,,,But remember the earliest you put your child to sleep the earliest they will get up,, 6pm 7pm is to early.....
