You need to get the baby tooth out of the way so the new tooth can grow in properly.
And the dentists that tell you to leave it just want the money you have to pay for braces down the road.

My son had that happen with his 2 bottom front teeth. Eventually the baby ones fell out. The dentist said there was nothing to worry about.
However, I know a lady with a son the same age as mine, and he's had to have his pulled for lack of room.
I'd give it a little time ( a month or so, if your son is in no pain) and if they still haven't come out, go to the dentist.

This same thing happened with my older daughter. Eventually, the baby teeth fell out, but the new teeth had come in crooked because of having to grow around the baby teeth.
I would make an appointment with a dentist as soon as possible to see what you can do to prevent the need for braces down the line.
Good luck.

This same thing happened with my 8 year old son. His front teeth wouldnt come out and the other ones grew in crooked. I thought that it was because of the other teeth being up there too long. The dentist told me that the baby teeth staying up there has nothing to do with how crooked the adult teeth come in. He said that regardless of when the baby teeth fell out, the xray said that the teeth would be coming in crooked anyway. So right now my son got braces put on his front teeth and that was on monday, you can already see how much better they are.

This is typical for alot. Is the baby tooth atleast loose? If not, you may want to make an appt. and have it extracted so the permanent tooth straightens. We want the baby teeth there to help guide the permanent teeth in but not everything goes as planned. In baby teeth the root will absorb and become loose but you want the perm. tooth to straighten for a proper dentition. Plus, for oral hygiene purposes too. If these 2 teeth are close together, that will make it harder to keep clean and cause decay. The best advice is get a consultation.

A friend of mine had this happen and she took her child to a dentist -- they said "let it get loose and work its way out on its own" ... with the new tooth in, it will eventually 'push' the other loose ... just be sure that the baby tooth is getting looser, and doesnt push the adult tooth to the point that it becomes crooked ...

you are going to have to get the baby tooth removed probably. i have a friend in HS that never got his fixed and he has 4 teeth where the canines are and it looks BAD!
Take him to the dentist and if it is not too late the new tooth comming in will probably grow in normal without braces, but there i a possibility that when all his teeth come in you'll have to get him braces!

No, my niece just had her two bottom teeth come in behind her baby teeth, my sister took her to the dentist and she said to leave them, that the baby teeth will fall out soon enough and the other two will move into place eventually. The dentist was not to concerned at all.

start trying to move the old tooth and pull it out, it won't hurt anything, my son had his two front teeth still there when the permanant teeth came in behind them. i just started wiggling his baby teeth and eventually they came out and the new teeth just moved into the front on their own. if it's hurting him i would take him to the dentist.
