I was told the Watchtower had made predictions in the past that were wrong. Just want to know what you think. Thanks

Depending on

the day of the week
the week of the year
the year of the decade
the decade of ...

they have a different answer.

When I was a pre-teen my mother used to tell me that if I wasn't a JW by February 3, 1962 I wouldn't be saved. Well that day came and went without incident.

After I started reading the Bible from cover-to-cover I was amazed when I read Deuteronomy 18:20-22, Revelation 22:18-19 as well as other verses.

When I asked the JWs who come to my door about these things they just tell me that my mother made a simple mistake. I tell them that people make mistakes but the uncreated Creator does not make mistakes.

My JW relatives however tell me that I just made up the story because my mother doesn't remember saying that to me. I was not able to find any printed material showing 2/3/62 as being the end of the world as we know it. However there are several dates they have published in the Awake and Watchtower magazines for specific dates that have come and gone without their prophecies being fulfilled.

I have an excellent book (which I've loaned to someone recently) by a former JW elder - Jehovah's Witnesses Answered Verse by Verse, by David A. Reed. He states that after he learned the Truth about Jesus Christ he knew he had to leave the JWs. He and his wife started an organization called Comments from the Friends.

There are a great many other resources to check -
The Kingdom of the Cults by Walter Martin
Some Serious, Popular False Doctrines Answered from the Scriptures by John R. Rice
An Open Letter to a Jehovah's Witness, a pamphlet by Roy B. Zuck

The world will by all means will end but do not look to the JWs or as I call them the Watchtower Witnesses to enlighten you.

My comments are not based on what I think but on what good translations of God's Word actually say.

No prediction was ever printed in the Watchtower or Awake magazines because the bible says at Matthew 24:36 concerning that day and hour nobody knows. The angels don't know, Jesus doesn't know, only the Father Jehovah God knows. Some took 1914 as the time when armageddon would come, but 1914 marked Jesus being seated on his heavenly thrown.

I don't know why people who don't know what they are talking about continues to answer questions about Jehovah's Witnesses! Jehovah's Witnesses have NEVER predicted the end of the world! 1914 is when Jesus took the heavenly throne and 1975 marked the end of 6000 years of human history. Lies and misunderstanding arise when ignorant people speak as though they know what they are talking about!

Jehovah's Witnesses believe that "the world" of mankind alienated from God under Satan's control will end at Armageddon, at some undetermined future date.

(Matthew 24:36) Concerning that day and hour nobody knows, neither the angels of the heavens nor the Son, but only the Father.

Jehovah's Witnesses expect this planet to continue its existence, populated by righteous humans.

(Psalm 104:5) He [Jehovah God] has founded the earth upon its established places; It will not be made to totter to time indefinite, or forever

(Psalm 37:29) The righteous themselves will possess the earth, And they will reside forever upon it

This question actually seems intended to propagate a false premise. In fact, Jehovah's Witnesses and their magazine The Watchtower have absolutely refused to make so-called "predictions". Jehovah's Witnesses have humbly taught that they are *NOT* infallible and *NOT* inspired by God; that's more than 125 years of such clear denials.

In their thousands of pages of literature, Jehovah's Witnesses have occasionally applied the term "prophet" only in a very limited sense to themselves as a religion, not to individuals. The Scriptures indicate that whenever Jehovah purposes to execute judgment upon a people, he always makes arrangment for a 'prophet's work' as a warning. Their self-description as a "prophet" (in this limited sense) does not indicate special inspired knowledge or foreknowledge, but their willingness to perform Christ's assigned warning work.

What group is working harder than Jehovah's Witnesses to preach God's message globally?

(Amos 3:7) For the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will not do a thing unless he has revealed his confidential matter to his servants the prophets.

(2 Peter 2:5) Noah, a preacher of righteousness...

(Matthew 24:14) And this good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations; and then the end will come.

According to the guy that started this movement it was suppose to end 1914. But 1914 came and went. Then they said it was to be a turning point in human history (Jesus was given the Kingdom by God).

Jehovah Witnesses are a cult, not a Christian church.

God never changes, but the JW church has changed their minds more than they will admit.

A prophet of God is easy to spot. They will NEVER be wrong.
