From my understanding, the Amish and Mennonite groups have very similar beliefs, that of the Anabaptists. The Amish are more strict about getting involved in the modern world and have no electricity in their homes and farm in the same fashion as they did in the 19th century. Also their transportation is the same as the 19th century.
The Mennonites do own cars and have electricity and if they farm, it is with tractors.
I have liked all the people I have met from both groups very much. They are very good Christians.

Depends on which sect with in both groups you are talking about.
The Amish and the Mennonites were once a single movement. The Amish split from the Mennonites.
While it is perceived today that the Amish are more strict and less modern than Mennonites, there are some Mennonites that are mistaken for Amish and some Amish who are mistaken as Mennonites. As I have said before, it all depends on which sect you are speaking about.

Amish do not believe in anything modern at all. Where some mennonites will have electricity and phone stuff like that. But, they will not have fancy clothes fancy anything. They are still plain.

The Amish aren't allowed to go to amusement parks, the Mennonites are. =)

Old Order Amish are much more conservative then Mennonites.

my understanding is that the Amish do not believe in any modern conveniences while the Mennonites allow their people to have a certain amount of specified modern conveniences.
